When do the headliners get booked do we reckon? Some time in the summer the year before? Only I think Bloc Party headlining next year is entirely dependent on the success of their next album, which is looking like it won't be out until the autumn. Would they be booked anyway in the hope it's massive? Could backfire like MCR (arguably) did - if Killjoys had been as successful as Black Parade there would have been fewer complaints...

Ideally they'd want some sort of 'sub if album is middling, headline if it's great' deal but I don't see how that would work, really.

Thinking about future years:

2013:

Biffy Clyro

Bloc Party

Blur

2014:

The Prodigy

The Killers

The Stone Roses

2015:

Elbow

Arctic Monkeys

Metallica

Bloc Party and The Killers are interchangeable. And if The Libertines reform I'd slot them in for Bloc Party, on either year.

If The Stone Roses don't last till then, move Metallica to 2014 and swap The Prodigy for The Black Keys.

I've thought this through too much, I know. It's a miserable day.

Also, I hope White Lies to be headlining by around 2015 :D

I agree with both those points. My guess would be:

2013

Biffy Clyro

The Prodigy

The Stone Roses

2014

The Killers

Someone getting the push - Two Door Cinema Club / Vaccines / Black Keys

Metallica

2015

Someone else getting the push - might not even be anywhere near headlining anything at the moment

Radiohead

Oasis, maybe? Probably more like for V, though

No, the NME announcement was meant to be tomorrow but there was a cock-up and it got announced last week instead. FR won't be announced for another few months yet, as they want to book the most current and relevant acts they can apparently, so leave til the last minute.

    • Used had one of the biggest crowds in the Wave last year. Not really my thing but enjoyed it and the crowd were bang up for it. Might be too much of a step up on the Main though.
    • Thing is it depends on what the issues are - building a bigger stage would likely bring the Pyramid up to the relatively standard 20x20 space for "on stage" production which does make it easier for touring setups. But if for example she wants big / complex extensions going out in the field (such as she had in Rio) that would remain just as awkward to achieve without massively disrupting the rest of the day or potentially even weekend.
    • A month or so before any ballot a group of up to six is registered and a lead booker named.  That gives see tickets time to check if any individual’s registration, post code  and details appears more than once on different groups and removed then on ticket allocation day tickets the groups are just randomly balloted.  It’s felt like a ballot in the last few years, just sitting staring at the dreaded two lines, glancing nervously at the clock as time passes. Maybe the f5 refresh gave you the sense that you were actually doing something 😊
    • or can we just have Metallica back please 😄
    • Feel Stevie Wonder should be in the conversation as a random Michael Eavis headliner ala Neil Young last year.... If we did get a M.E pick for one of the headliner slots, who else would be in the mix do we think? Cher? Rolling Stones? Nicks/Fleetwood?
