Wasnt an opinion of what I would like but where I think they will play.

Would I like slipknot to play a festival I go to....not really. Seen them a few times at festivals and there ok but nothing special to me, theres alot better metal bands out there that could play.

But like I said they will probably headline download before r&l, ive not looked but wasnt the last metal headliner metallica? or have rammsteing headlined since?

Have slipknot gotten any bigger since the last time they were booked in 08?

They've only brought out all hope Is gone and I don't think that sold as well as vol. 3.

Before they pulled out they were booked 3rd down.

I still think they could sub soad like they did at soundwave.

I think they'd work better at R/L then at Download AGAIN. Different dynamic for them. They know how to play to the average metal crowd which has made their sets generic and kind of boring, well to me anyway. I think them headlining a festival like R/L may push them to try something different, (playing Snuff, Vermillion pt.2, Gematria, Three Nil, My Plague would at least mix their setlist up a bit)

If there is to be a metal headliner next year I'd much prefer System, Maiden or Rammstein (lol)

I think your majorly underestimating them. I think in the past they were booked the same year as slipknot and played above them. There is much more cross over and a broader appeal for them IMO.

I think r&l would be like soundwave in Australia where SOAD played above slipknot. You've got to admit that SOAD are bigger than MCR do would only headline.

SOAD probably have more appeal than Slipknot but I think both would struggle to grab a headline slot. They've used the reunion/return factor on other festivals so don't have that any more, so need a big release with a lot of airplay to raise their profile to headline status (say what you like about MCR but they were all over the radio and music TV channels for at least 9 months up the them headlining).

    • Reading all the feedback with interest.  If there are now 75,000 tickets officially sold, plus who knows how many more people blagging in - then on the Friday evening and Saturday in particular, it's not ridiculous to suggest there's 50,000 people at Mordor, which is a stadium gig - except with much worse sight lines, an inferior PA, and far less bars and toilets. The Thursday evening in 2022 was of course infamous but on the Friday night for Beck I was trapped about 150m from the stage, surrounded by chatters, and with no prospect of getting nearer the stage.  With hindsight that was when I realised the fest had one way or another fundamentally changed.  Also noting on Reddit that some folk didn't enjoy the Cure or Gorillaz because the sets were "too long".  In future bands may be better received if they actually just play their top 10 Spotify songs then get back off the stage.
    • Has Glastonbury already got council permission for that 5 year run?
    • This keeps being mentionned but it only happened because Dua's Europe Tour was rescheduled due to Covid. Dua's arena show was initially planned for October 2021 but got rescheduled to May 2022 a month after the PS2022 lineup was announced.   I hope Massive Attack and Doja get to come back. I guess it'll depend whether they have a summer tour planned next year.
    • Solo album on the way for the singer of a certain band.  Il leave the name of the act out and see if anyone listening can guess....  its er rather obvious lol
