I think we should all face facts, weather a band is good or not or weather they have a good live rep or not. they will hire bands they think will sell tickets. there are no patterns ,as much as we like looking for them they just aint there. they book the bands most likely to sell out of those avalible at the time. as much as peeps didn't like KOL, RHCP, AM they will headline again when avalible as they sell tickets. as shit as they are those three are would sell it out.

That lineup is pretty poor IMO, don't know whether I'd bother getting a ticket.

Killers won't headline due to their Wembley Stadium show.

Dizzee Rascal subbing Eminem seems logical but I think would be too far a step in a different direction for Reading to take.

Chase and Status won't play NME, would get too crowded.

Placebo headlining NME is a good shout though, would work very well against Mumford And Sons if they headlined.

Im not really a fan.

However there's been quite a few times where bands have done one (or two) off festival shows as a break from writing. If R&L sniff out an exclusive it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Plus the end if the six months would be June/July landing them right in time for a couple of months of rehearsals and play R&L at the end of the summer.

El Camino is full of absolutely huge songs and they have a fantastic back catalog. Next time they play they will headline, amazing live band (saw them at the 02 wednesday too)

Actually I would say for 2013 soni could do worse than getting them to headline a slightly smaller friday.

Them headlining would be the weakest headliner in recent history.

People were predicting them to be playing 3rd down this year.

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
