The xx in the light would be terrible. their live show is all about the light show. i really think they should be headlining the NME above Alt-J (who is a ridiculous NME headliner imo). although The xx are pretty damn huge now so the NME tent might be too small for them so alas Main Stage it is

i WAS a huge fan. i literally bought a ticket to the festival a month prior after seeing that the Chilis were playing. i was so excited to see them, but they managed to destroy every bit of love i had for them in that single performance. it was John's last ever performance with them and in my eyes, it was incredibly obvious that he didn't want to be there, and that the band just wanted the show to be over so that they could finish their tour. plus a pretty poor setlist as i recall (all the worst songs from Stadium Arcadium) and replacing Under The Bridge with a 7+ minute jam. boo!

Oh calm down, I think it's a great booking. He's incredibly hard to see live nowadays and despite what you say I think he'll be a huge ticket shifter - you should have seen my twitter timeline when it was announced. And what do you mean ' It's not exactly new because he headlined in 2001'.... that was 12 years ago! Compared to how often acts repeatedly headline the same festivals nowadays, that's a fucking long time! I think they may balance this out with a heavier rock act - Black Sabbath - and then have an indie headliner - Mumford/ Biffy (I know they're on the borderline). Which I think would be a strong set of headliners. Also think some people need to get used to the fact that RnL aren't going to be stuck in 1991 forever, and that they will have to appeal to the current, and more diverse, audience.

I don't think RHCP were as disastrous as people were making out. They were just a little flat, and for a band of their stature, with so many people in that crowd having grown up with the band's music, including myself, the high expectations became disappointment which was amplified into despair, when really it was just a little subdued and the band seemed bored. Still a pretty bad performance, but I wasn't stood there thinking "this is the worst thing ever."

I've said this before, but Arctic Monkeys in 2009 were a lot worse. That was maybe the worst live performance I'd ever seen by a band that isn't a support act, which is ironic because it felt like I was watching a support band, A truly terrible, lifeless show, and I hope that if they're announced as headliners for 2013, that they step it up. In fact, I don't think RHCP were much worse than Kings Of Leon were in 2009.

When I said 'not exactly a new thing', I was replying to someone claiming R+L had finally given up on their heritage and become just like V, and that it was downhill for the festival from now. If that was the case when booking Eminem, then surely they gave up on their heritage 12 years ago.

Was thinking that this morning. Defamation of Strickland Banks was a bit of a V festival album but ill Manors might help him fit in with R&L a bit more.

I think he would be great 3rd on the main but i reckon he would want to sub, and i can't really see that happening, with Eminem being a bit outside of the usual genre of headliners i can imagine them having a safer bet like Bloc Party subbing.

I still think there's an outside chance though, i personally think he would make a brilliant NME headliner but he's probably too big
