Yeah just looked up, did see them mentioned on twitter the other day but googled and couldn't see anything nor on ticketmaster. Will have to have a look into it, closest is Birmingham and £30 is steep for an Academy. May have to hold out for them being at Reading

I know a couple of people have mentioned it recently but did Radiohead really have a small crowd? I was stood around the bar area and the whole area was fairly busy through their set, not as rammed as for the Foos but their certainly wasn't a gap of tens of metres between the people milling around the bar and the back of the crowd like there was for The Cure.

In the end of the day no one knows what direction reading festival will take, especially after 2 years of slower ticket sales.

Is it trying to get an older audience, as its agreed its mostly aimed at the younger audience. With the cure, potentially black sabbath perhaps its trying to go in another direction.

If its still going to be aimed at 16-21 perhaps there will be more and more urban music coming into the festival as Far as my nieces and nephews go that what there listenting to. Is there the same interest in bands reading have booked in the last 5 years?

I agree to the target audience of reading festival couple of years ago, that changed this year when the cure played and if black sabbath play next year.

I think it's been a gradual move for a while and given the positive change in atmosphere over the last two or three years I'd like to think a deliberate one. The Cure may have seemed like a watershed moment but I don't think that's indiciative of a sudden change, while they may not be as old as The Cure the likes of The Strokes, Pulp, GNR, Arcade Fire are hardly the 'young people's bands' that we think of when we talk about MCR, 30STM, The Vaccines or Mumford.

I think they are a headline band, for a festival like Bestival, Wireless or maybe IOW at a stretch. They just dont have enough appeal for a Reading headliner, not by a long stretch...and they won't play anyway as they're doing a big gig at the O2!
