You can't compare listening to music on the radio and seeing them perform live.

Add up how much you would pay to see all the acts you want to see at Bestival and it would am sure come to over £200.

Stevie Wonder, New Order, Florence, Sigur Ros, The XX, De la Soul, Friendly Fires, Nero, 2 Many DJs, Souldwax, Justice, Roots Manuva, Sister Sledge, Gary Numan, Death In Vegas, The Horros, Gallows, Hot Chip, Gallows, Spiritulized even Rizzle Kicks and Adam Ant if you fancy that sort of thing.

Looks like lots of names to me! Maybe Bestival isn't the festival for you Dave?

If people like bands they've never heard of before, then Bestival's undercard is for them. I love listening to new bands, or lesser known and obscure bands, and being exposed to them, but then that's what radio is for, and I don't pay £200 for that pleasure usually.

This ^^^ .... I detest Scissor Sisters on record, but they're a fantastic live band (as I got to discover at Bestival a few years back, as it happens).

For me, festivals are all about watching bands I probably wouldn't experience otherwise, and I've discovered loads of wonderful bands by doing that.

(OK, fair enough, I've also sat thru loads of shit  ... I'm looking at you, Hot Chip).

While there's got to me some stuff on the bill that I want to see, I actually prefer to go to festivals where there's not a massive amount that's grabbing my interest. It keeps it interesting. :)

I loved Bestival last year -- was one of the best weekends of my life. The w*nk aspects I knew I was going to hate, I avoided just as I will this year, but what Rob does, what Bestival does before and DURING the festival is not without criticism, and I'll always be keen to point it out because part of my actual job involves getting paid to do it. While we can all be sycophantic, approach everything with a glass half full and pretend as if everything is going to be 'juuuuuuust fine', it's nice to occasionally remind important people who listen that what they do is not without fault, and it's important in all aspects of life to try and give constructive criticism in hope that it changes things for the better. The world would be a far more tedious place if we all universally agreed on everything.

There's a difference though between offering a bit of constructive criticism every now and then and constantly moaning about the festival on multiple forums. If it's so bad, just sell your ticket and go elsewhere.

Justica were my highlight of primavera, so much so that i have every intention of seeing them twice more this Summer including at bestival. I can see them returning to headline if/when they tour for their third album...

    • There's always one, monday!
    • We had one f**kwit one year come back at 4am and start playing music out loud and sitting under the tree talking. Thankfully his mate was in the tent trying to sleep too and came out and told him to f**k off. After one big argument he did indeed f**k off.   Otherwise I can actually sleep at GM without ear plugs compared to glasto. It's usually typically fine for sleeping at.

    • Yeah, she sold out BST twice and I think she'll return with even more interest.
    • To me MGK doesn't shift tickets, but could appeal to a younger demographic.    Don Broco/Architects/Jimmy Eat World/Turnstile - one or two of these would hit better.
