I wasn't really sure where to put this but I recently contacted a promoter inquiring about playing The Water Rats in London and got this email back. Bare in mind that we are a very left field progressive rock band...

Hi Haydn,
Thanks for you booking request which has been passed on to me for the Water Rats.
I haven't received a booking from from the O2 Academy, but i wanted to provide you with some dates currently available at this venue.
Thursday 14th February
(supporting Ingrid Arthur & Global Beat Manifesto - Famous for the intl hit "It's Raining Men") -
Bands wishing to support this act must be able to attract at least 25 people.

Laughing my head off at the stupidest person on twitter.

Their tweet was.

"Readings third headliner is obv nirvana, they haven't played since 96, and they are reading favourites! Plus they've played with system load"

Spot how many wrong things there are with that statement.

Oh yeah and the tweet after followed up with?

"Nirvana died? shit... why did no one tell me this".

I hate humanity.

After months of looking for a replacement for my favourite cross-body bag, which fell to pieces last year having done university, 7 Glastos and numerous holidays, I've found one! Big enough to hold all my bits and pieces and some beers, a zip and a flap for security, a waterproof back pocket for my bog roll. And it has owls on... That's really made my day. :)

today I was offered a free ticket to Festival No 6 again which I was kind of hoping for but as a bonus I've also been offered a free ticket to Pinkpop in Holland

The only issue is Pinkpop is on my wedding anniversary but wife has taken it reasonably well.

Delivering training on Autism today, and getting only one negative feedback comment, and that comment was complaining about the car parking, all the other comments were very positive.

Also, realising it's 70 days until Bearded Theory, and that 10 weeks today I'll be sitting next to my tent, drinking cider, with a large group of field loving reprobates.

I'm a punter. This will be my 4th Bearded Theory, it's a great way to start off Festival season. I'll be camping with a huge group of eFesters, incuding NomiNaomi, GlastoMongrel, Rabid, Green Fairy, Strudders, Boilerman, and loads of others whose eFests monikers I've forgotten. Look out for the Northumberland Flag and come and say Hi.

A couple of days behind on this as i've been working during the day and going to gigs the last couple of evenings (brmc and foals) but having the glastonbury line-up announcement on my birthday was pretty nice!

    • Wow, way to insult the guy.
    • yougov seems to be the outlier when it comes to the Burnham bounce. But also, being a bounce, it was never going to last, but with Reform maybe on the way down, and Tories holding steady, we could end up with Reform, Labour and Tories all between 20 and 25% for a while. A lot of it at moment with Burnham is vibes, and the vibes are currently sexy and are pulling support back from Greens, but the autumn budget is key...will they go big and bold, or will they do very little because they're thinking a 2027 general election?
    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
