Tell Woy that, I don't think he's actually checked the playes out. He's talking about how Ox coped so well against playes he's never actually played against.

I understand that but the more pressing matter should be the Euro's, with less than a month til it starts and no time to work with the team this isn't the time to pick people for the sake of it. The advantages of brining him into the mold doesn't really exists as the current team set up hasn't been established yet and will help create a bigger Liverpool centric dressing room. If actually needed Richards would probably more usefull in the tournament and this can only de-motivate him for the future but it depends on why Kelly was actually picked.

Martin Kelly been called up to the England squad for the Norway friendly. Hopefully a well deserved cap for the young lad but Micah Richards must be gutted. Not even fourth choice!

Don't feel sorry for Richards, it's all his own petulant doing.

He refused to go onto the stand-by list, which is why he's not on the stand-by list.

Im sad to see Drogba leave the premiership, he had some bad moments but I think his heart is in the right place. Also by a comfortable margin the best big game player in my 20 years watching English football.

Yep, I'm sad to see him go too. I took years to warm to him cos of his diving antics, but in the last few years when he's cut that out I've been hugely impressed with how he's so often monstered the opposition.

I'm not sure I'd go quite as far as saying the best in the Prem era (tho no one is coming to mind to better him), but certainly the best in the last ten years.

Martinez is a gamble, but could work. Big rumour tonight is Van Gaal in as 'Sporting Director'. I'd be more comfortable with that in a way, someone with some top class experience to help guide him.

Liverpool just seem to be picking a coach with good records in europe and thinking they will get them, how many coaches are needed to turn them down before they get there man?

Van gaal wont go to liverpool as sporting director, liverpool need a big reality check.

while Liverpool are being daft in how they're approaching the whole thing and need a reality check over that part, I don't think they're so far off the mark with the sorts of 'top managers' they could appoint as manager if they went about things in a more normal way. They are, after all, one of the worlds biggest clubs despite being in the doldrums.

But they're probably likely to put off those managers by the way they're approaching things. Those top managers have egos no lesser than the players they typically manage, and won't view the process that Liverpool are going thru as flattering to them.

Mind you, if they can put off AVB by that I don't think it would be a bad thing. He's talking about his next 'project' - the sorts of words that screwed him at Chelsea. That's no less unflattering to players as Liverpool are being to managers.

I could actually see that happening.

It's starting to look as tho the only way is down for Spurs from here, because I'm finding it difficult to believe that they'll succeed in hanging onto all the players they'd need to hang on to, while they'll also have difficulty getting replacements of a similar level without Chumps football.

And as it's normally the case that 'Arry bails when things have been turned to shit (most normally all his own doing), him bailing out of Spurs - or even being pushed - is far from impossible I reckon.

Luckily for Liverpool, I'm not sure he'll move up north, and I can't really see them being happy for him to travel from B'mouth ... so fingers crossed for Liverpool it doesn't happen. They're stupid beyond belief to even be thinking of him.

I think for footballing and money reasons Arry would be interested being on only a 1 year contract at spurs. However I agree he isnt going to be willing to move up north. This is probably lucky for liverpool and its hard to know what the americans are thinking. I heard on the radio that once they hired someone with a poor managerial record for one of their teams and he ended up being one of the most succesful managers in their history, so I wouldnt be shocked to see a really surprising choice.

I know Strummer will hate this, but...

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/clubs/index.by-season.html?season=ALL_SEASONS

Cumulative league table for the 20 seasons of the Prem so far. The top 4 and their order is no surprise, but I'm amazed Villa are 5th. I didn't think they'd regularly finished high enough to justify that. I know they've been there every season, but I didn't think they'd better Everton and Spurs.

Unsurprisingly though, the general trend is based on number of games spent in the league. Leeds are impressively high given that, and to a lesser extent City.

Meaningless stats over. Hazard's still making lots of announcements about how everyone wants to sign him and he's agreed wages, without coming out with anything of interest, we've signed another French midfielder on a free, Kranjcar's prepared to go to Russia to get out of Spurs and there's non-news on Liverpool doing something about a stadium.

Don't forget, they were top 2-3 for the first few seasons of the Premiership and then top 6 ish for a good few more after that. York, McGrath, Saunders, Atkinson, Houghton. Great team, great football.

McLeish has the ability to strangle all that is good from a club so his sour puss gawking onto the pitch from the sidelines this season may have clouded your judgement. Its understandable.

Its like the good looking girl from your neighbourhood, who you have sweet youthful memories of, but then finding out years later that she was relentlessly sodomised by the biggest, ugliest, idiot loser in the neighbourhood. All of a sudden those sweet memories fade away and in your mind and shes now a complete skank.

I think its a huge risk for these young Brazilians to go straight to big clubs. In the past they seemed to stop in the likes of Holland and portugal which was a good transition. Think the increased pay in Brazil stop this happening now.

Arsenal bid 3 million for Joe Allen, way too low in my opinion.

    • My wife works for a music company, they have an allocation already.  They run a ballot for it early next year.
    • This is my guess too.    2028 festival breaks the £400 barrier.
    • Yeah I did spot that AXS had more available for the O2 shows Muse are doing, though I think that comes with the territory of AXS now being the venue's primary ticket selling platform.    My instinct remains they'll probably still play to a big crowd on the night - sales were similarly slow in 2023 but videos of those gigs showed the venue looking pretty much full. Equally it probably would be sold out if the pricing was even just slightly less ridiculous. Shave up to £50 off some of these categories and I think that would've got people to go with it.
    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
    • A lot of people have said this online but does the Marvel world need new cities to play with? New York seems to be a target of all the villains to the point where you wonder why anyone in that world still lives there. Much as you can accuse me of overthinking it I guess haha.    I do agree that The Void is a compellingly different villain in many respects given the superpower is trapping people in their most traumatic memories. Shame in some respects the film came out in the post-Endgame funk Marvel seems stuck in and a lot of people missed out on it.    Speaking of, I rewatched Infinity War the other day. First time I think I've seen it since seeing it in the cinema on its opening day. Holds up pretty well imo - I have issues sometimes with ensemble casts and jumping between 4/5 storylines but it felt this one got the balance right and also properly explored Thanos. So it was good.
