Yeah. Pardew's been a bit superlative in the past about his players, both for us and other clubs before, so I'll wait until I see it, but I could believe it. Fuck me that guy has talent. What it is about Newcastle and sulky gifted French left-wingers?

I don't agree with you about him missing a trick, but why does he need to try to look graceful on this. He and the club made the absolute minimum of noise during the past few months about this whole affair. Liverpool have apparently not approached United, and he just said that he would have thought they would do it in person and not through the newspapers.

People shouldn't try to make a deal out of nothing.

he doesn't 'need' to look graceful - but neither does he have to do the opposite, which he did.

He could have shown a bit of grace and been regarded the better man because of it (by saying something like "we're always happy to talk to other clubs for the good of the game"), instead of showing himself as needing to put the club first (without any benefit from it, apart from shouting 'we're bigger than anything else' in a rather arrogant way).

Liverpool are getting slated for taking the exact same attitude from the situation/position of their club. Chelsea are taking the same 'us first' attitude over the Terry affair. Fergie has done nothing different here from the situation & position of Utd.

I'm pointing out that the way that clubs - all clubs - do this is what has led Liverpool to take the stance they have. If things had been the other way around then while Utd probably wouldn't have made some of the more crass mistakes that Liverpool have made, the underlying attitude towards things would have been much the same.... from the outside this can at times look hard to justify, but from clubs' positions it's obviously a different consideration because they all end up playing things in just about the same arrogant way.

He was already blowing up before rooneys protest, harsh red card but he went in with two feet off the ground and so he has to go, four match ban too

City are appealing it but I can't see how it will get overturned?

Great game! Fergie was rightly furious after. He was fucking raging.

Scholesy back though! SO happy!! Couple of miss placed passes but thats to be expected. If you need to control the game and hang onto the ball, theres (still), nobody better around. He did it from 70 mins to 91 mins brilliantly. (Apart from one or two loose passes).

In other news, Downing arrested for punching his missus. More fantastic news from LFC.

Liverpool v Utd in the fourth round then, that's going to be a security nightmare the way things have been stirred up in recent weeks

Some tasty draws for the 4th round. Can't be unhappy about getting lower league teams, but going away is always difficult in the cup. I reckon West Brom/Norwich should be a good game.

Reports of Warnock being sacked by QPR. Seems a strange decision to me, not sure who's around to replace him. I can't see Mark Hughes wanting it. There's enough talent in that team to stay up, but a lot of egos that'll need careful managing. Be interesting to see.

    • It was great, but I don't know why they continue to play Wide Lovely Eyes and Rings of Saturn, which are the weakest of the tracks off both PTSA and ST. Well, I do. It's cos they're about Suzie, so he can sing what he wants. They're the low points of the set. The rest is ace.
    • I didn't this time, but I've seen them before and just because you saw both that night doesn’t mean you can compare them. The Stones were great, but.you didn't think so and you went somewhere else looking for a good time and you found it. For whatever reason you didn't like it, but you were an outlier and all the reviews said they were great.
    • Annie Lennox could be the one to unite the whole forum, nobody has a bad word to say about her, even noted curmudgeon Skip 😄 I'd probably even amble along for a bit meself, and i'm also a miserable sod
    • If the below link works - thats interesting.   While I don't particularly put much stock in that account as a source (never seen it before though, tbf), and I can pick a hole or two (see below) in what he says - the timing of it is a week before I had the Fontaines '27 stadium info (same stadium he says on there, Tottenham). The info, or part of it, matches up.   Holes I'd pick: I'd have to watch again but I THINK he says 'end of year' for Tottenham - not possible, for a number of reasons, though he's probably just got his words mixed up there. It's Summer '27, or that's what I've been told. He also says Glastonbury is/would be based on how the album does. That doesn't stack up to me, unless it was a 2028 thing. I suppose that could stack up, i.e a verbal agreement for 2028, but still seems a bit of an odd approach. I would personally still expect it to be 2027 alongside the stadium gigs, IF they are gonna do it, though I've still not got a Scooby when the album is gonna drop, only that the tour is due for Spring (or early) next year.   Interesting, nonetheless.   https://www.instagram.com/reel/DaOB3Q9qkwW/
    • I was hoping that they would just do a tour like they were set to in 2020, rather than having Download as their UK appearance. If they are at DL, I would be surprised to see them headline. I think they sub under Deftones or SOAD
