a straightforwards view would say you're very probably right.

But in the background, I know that Glastonbury approached a number of acts in January (and perhaps Feb too) to headline the Sunday and that at least some of those acts would be regarded as smaller than Mumfords.

My take on things is that Mumfords would have already been signed up before then, and so there has to be a reason why they weren't put into the Sunday slot - and the only thing which seems to make any sense is that they weren't because they are or were the back-up for the stones.

It might be that the stones confirmed to Glasto and that has allowed Mumfords to be moved to Sunday, but my guess is that the stones probably didn't confirm (if they have, of course) before Glasto had sorted another act for the Sunday.

So I'm still plumping for Mumfords before the Stones, unless I get some info that says differently. But of course that's a guess made by piecing together various bits of info, so it always stands the chance of being wrong.

I'm suprised madonna at glastonbury hasn't happened already to be honest. Does sound like they are struggling though, madonna isn't exactly in the best light right now. I wouldn't see her, gives me a good excuse to check out a good other stage headliner!

All information he's given you is in line with what we know, as in Rolling Stones with Mumford as back up and Arctic Monkeys for the friday, so there's no reason to suggest the rest of it isn't. Seems quite realistic to be honest, and Arctics - Stones - Madonna is a really strong set of names.

Much as it would be amazing if Madonna plays I kinda hope she doesn't as she's probably the only act I'd wait all day at the front of the Pyramid to get a front row spot for. And that's a terrible waste of Glastonbury time.

I think arctics, the stones and madonna would be a very strong set of headliners... and even arctics, mumfords and madonna would be (with Madonna being a suitably big name to to be a story in itself rather than the lack of the stones being the headline). Of them i'd only(possibly) watch the stones and Madge is clearly well past her best (which is why they may stand a chance of getting her at a somewhere near affordable rate) but it would go down well.

    • First outdoor gig of the season for me last night. David Byrne in a soaking wet St Anne’s Park. Absolutely spectacular (didn’t expect anything less to be fair!). If you get a chance to catch him on this tour, don’t hesitate. At least half the set were Talking Heads classics. Marvellous all round (ok, I’ll let him away with the song about how much he loves his apartment😁).  IMG_1177.dng

    • Don Broco secret set.
    • Regarding PinkPantheress: I watched the ending of The Cure from the back and then bolted straight to Cupra to save spots on the steps for my entire festival crew. Thus, we all had a good experience there. Sucks that not everybody got to properly see it, but it felt like something out of Glastonbury where those who showed up long in advance got to see a big artist on a smaller stage in good conditions.
