yeah when i heard that Mumfords were a possible headliner i always pictured them headlining the Friday. would be an incredibly underwhelming end to the festival if they headlined the Sunday. i thought they were pretty much nailed on but what with this talk of the Arctics being there i doubt Mumfords will be there as well

i think the 'end of the festival' concept is relatively new though. many people have gone home/ready for leaving or are just tired by that point.

(i do think if they play Mumford would be best on the Friday)

to me at least, Friday and Saturday are much bigger nights. Friday you're all up for anything, Saturday is the main night and Sunday you're thinking 'how much longer, my feet hurt'.

that could be just me though!

a lot of people seem to think that Arctics and Mumfords will be at either Glasto or Reading/Leeds, so yeah, Mumfords being at Reading/Leeds and Arctics being at Glasto makes a lot more sense. too soon for Arctics to be back at R/L.

and i agree that Sunday is the dying down day, but it's also the grand finale of it all so to have an underwhelming headliner would be crap (although to be fair, there shouldn't be an underwhelming headliner at a festival anyway, especially not Glasto, hence why Mumfords shouldn't headline)

if it's Arctics Friday and Stones Saturday then i'm pretty excited to see what the Sunday act is. both hard acts to follow. a part of me is thinking Gaga is just too similar to Beyonce for it to be true. years of not having a female pop singer headline and then two on the run? hmm

Lots of people said that Muse weren't big enough to close the festival in 2004 after Macca and Oasis but they smashed it and played one of my favourite headline sets. It's good to give new bands a chance and whether you like them personally or not, who's to say they couldn't nail it! Having said that, I probably won't watch them, but as everyone always says there are plenty more stages. Finishing Glasto 2011 with Queens of the Stone Age was simply stunning!

    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
    • Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
