I will have to watch them just to piss off my brother - when he was younger he was obessed with them. He used to have a wombles T-shirt that he loved so much my mum had to wait til he had fallen asleep before she could take it off him and wash it and then she had to put it back on him before he work up otherwise he would be in a right state when he woke up.

It will be interesting to see what slot they give them. Hopefully an early one!

Quite possibly the first time I'll watch a mimed act at Glasto. Apart from that mime I saw in the Circus Field.

Katie Melua made Mike Batt do the Wombles theme tune at Guilfest a few years ago.

Everyone had a little sing along 'Underground, overground Wombling free..............'

I made a right show of myself by launching into the second verse when everyone was more than satified with one.

Picture it, Katie ready to start singing about bicycles or some such and some twit at the back yells

'Uncle Bulgaria, he can remember the days.................'

My son reckons this was the moment our festivalling days together were numbered :)

As a child I loved the Wombles and identified with Orinoco due to our tummys being roughly the same size

My sister was born on my 3rd birthday in 1976. That year I had a birthday cake with a little edible Orinoco sitting on top. I couldn't eat it because I had mumps. How unlucky was I?! A sister AND the mumps.

Ah man, somewhere, in one of the attics where I have cardboard boxes mouldering away, there is a vinyl copy of the Wombles album from when I was a kid. The cover has them all sitting on a record I think. 'Remember you're a Womble', 'We wish you a Wombling Merry Christmas', all the greats.

It's just a shame Mike Batt is such a f**king Tory.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
