Foo Fighters

Hmmm. Wouldn't really know what to think if this actually happened.

A part of me thinks that Dave Grohl is living off past glorys and the only reason why Foo Fighters were really massive was cos Dave was in Nirvarna who were great aswell, i'm not a huge fan mind, but I reckon if Dave Grohl wasn't in Nirvana and still formed the Foo Fighters then they would be on the same level of success as someone like The Breeders were in the 90's, but they do have some really good stadium songs and they are dead easy to cover too (did a song in my old band, forgot what it was though). It could go either way- It could be epic or incredibly boring.

i saw the foo fighters on the other stage, google says it was 1998, which sounds about right. i didn't know much about them when i went to see, and thought it was a fantastic show, and would be happy to see them play glasto again. it was definately a daylight show when i saw them 5-8pm time i think,(sorry 12 year old glasto memories are a little hazy) and i've no idea if they are now big enough to headline - i guess it depends how the new album is recieved by public and press! but it gets my vote!

edit, it was other stage, not pyramid, as i said, hazy memories!! love glasto!

They're consistent live, but a lot of the time it seems they're going through the motions (same banter, same glazed look in their eyes). Going to a show with special meaning behind it (like Glasto has) usually pulls the best out of them though. Personally, I'd like they to pull out more songs from the first 3 albums (Good Grief, Exhausted, New Way Home, MIA, Headwires...) but that's never going to happen. I think they'd be well received though.

Amazing live band and one of a very few that could easily headline both Glasto and Download. Slash did both this year. I doubt Download would stop them doing Glasto as well, although Reading/Leeds tend to be stricter about exclusivety.

After the tedium of Gorillaz, a band that actually gets people moving and excited would be wonderful.

So what do we think the chances are of the Foo's playing then?

I know I've mentioned this in some other threads but weren't Grohl and co (might have just been Grohl) spotted at Worthy Farm at one point not too long ago? Anyone got any gossip or info?

There is a major lack of headliners who havent headlined before so why not Foo Fighters. They've got a massive back catalogue, they are great live and know how to put on massive live shows, just look at the Wembley gigs. Plus theyve got the connections to pull out a few special guests to make their set something special.

Slash played both, so did enter shikari likewise but they didn't headline ethir, the prodigy did headline both alternative stages but i havent heard of download sharing its mainstage headliners with any other english festival before (in the same year of course), infact i havent heard of ethir V, glastonbury, download or reading sharing mainstage headliners, anyone care to prove me wrong?

p.s Gorlliaz were amazing, it wasn;t about jumoing and singing it was about hearing great quality live music, a bit like pink floyd (not saying gorrliaz are as good, jusr a similar live feel.) however i belive a bit of warning about what there set would bee like would of been good, and they should of bloody played 19-2000 a clash cover!

I seem to remember Neil being very sweet on the chances of them headlining a few years back before they had a break, I personally think they will headline next year and have thought that since I drove out of Glastonbury last year when thinking who will play next year.

U2

Foo Fighters

Lady Gaga next year

This band is as big if not bigger than Muse

I absoloutely adore Best Of You from Wembley, mainly because I was there, and there was nothing I'd ever experienced like running out to the train station at the end of that song with the fireworks, but All My Life from that gig was also incredible.

    • I did get a little amusement at the idea that Infantino was upset Trump stood him up for the US opener last night given how hard he's been trying to get in his good books.   Tbf, I thought the Canadian roar at their equaliser was decent volume. Or maybe I just had my phone at a higher volume for it when I watched the highlights this morning.
    • Wonder if they’d ever headline Glasto again.  Would be very different a 2nd time around I reckon.
    • My mate is there now. She enjoyed them a lot but had never seen them before. Apparently there was an injury in the crowd near the end so took about 10 or so minutes to sort out. Hope the person is alright.    Feeder apparently drew a ridiculously huge crowd on the third stage.
    • This was never a surprise.   I'm hoping USA meet and lose to Iran in round of 16, just to really wind up Trump.
    • Watched this this morning -  absolute brilliance -  live show is peaking
