The Stevie Thread

cant believe the lack of replies to this thread.

After reading on this messageboard about all the rumours of extended jams, medley's of hits etc I was a bit worried about this set before the festival.

Thank god all that turned out to be utter nonsense!

It was an unbelievably epic gig. I adored it. OK he missed out A LOT of songs I would have liked to have heard but it was fantastic stuff. When he came on stage at the beginning it was a proper goosebumps moment.

Also, who was it who joined him on the piano half way through (my memory gets very hazy)?

Michael Eavis on stage at the end though looked like the most uncomfortable human being in history. And MY EARS! when he actually did "sing" a couple of words. Stick to pulling udders, Michael!

It was incredible, but it was always going to be. I was dancing my ass off and singing so loudly that I can barely talk. There were a couple of songs I'd hoped for that were missing, but let's be honest, he could do 3 hours solid and still miss out some great stuff - such is the quality of the back catalogue.

Quick shout for Faithless too. Never been a fan, but thought they did a good show.

HOW AMAZING WAS STEVIE WONDER!!!!!!

I was beaming for the duration of his set. Was unsure what way he would go with this show but it was truely stunning. Best thing I've seen at Glasto so far.

I'm glad that someone started this thread. I saw faithless at the back before because i had to wait for my five other compatriats ( who dislike Faithless ) to arrive for Stevie. Faithless were great and i must say a drank quite a bit and danced as if i was 15 years younger. When they arrived for the Stevie set they wanted to stay where we were. I admit that it looked extremely busy down below but after two songs i decided that i just had to get nearer mainly because of the lack of dancing going on at the back where we were, they all seemed to busy trying to set off sky lanterns. So i and my friend and his wife decided to weave our way in between the tourches on the ground until we got down to about left middle side of stage where a gap appeared with about 20 or so people dancing their tits off. It wasn't crammed and we had enough space to really let go.....which i did. The atmosphere there was a complete party zone. WOW what a gig! I have just seen one of the legends perform on the greatest stage, something i wanted to do since i listened to Songs in the Key of Life, the first album i ever listened to.

Best gig i have ever been to!Its gonna be hard to top that next year. I think ME was nearly in tears himself. :D:D I watched it back today and i was holding back the tears of enjoyment.....I WAS THERE!!!

This was a bona fide 'Glastonbury Moment' for me, decided I'd go with my mate and expected it to be a bit average.I danced like loon through all the tunes, me and my mate hugging and singing 'I just called to say I love you' to each other and I actually welled up during the set which surprised me.

Then at the end, he started talking about creating a world where there are no barriers for those with disabilities, well, having a disabled daughter that just made me sob! I was cheering and crying, very emotional!

One of the best things I've seen in my life!!

Aye pretty close to tears when Eavis came on stage for some reason. This was replaced by fits of laughter as the song went on and Eavis took up the mic.

Absolutely brilliant though, every song post "little Stevie" was a triumph and encouraged me to dance wildly.

What a way to end the best weekend ever. Was in tears for a couple of songs due to cider, no sleep worked the night before! and knowing that a dream came true to hear THE MAN Sunday night at glasto will never be bettered after Faithless as well.

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
