precisely. forget yesterday happened, and it would just be carroll from newcastle. good player for a decent premiership team.

crazy what a media frenzy can do to peoples perceptions.

f**k me there's some ostriches around here.

What he turns out to be is yet to be seen, but there's plenty of very respected football people who've been giving him the "great English prospect" tag for many months. It's not something recently invented by Liverpool fans.

They might get in by winning it yet!

I thought they'd changed the rules, so that the winner can only get into the next season's comp if they qualify for it via their domestic league position?

Or have I got that the wrong way round, and they changed the rules so that the winner automatically qualifies cos they won it?

There's two concepts that this whole change of attitude has brought to life:

i) The theory that we assess how good something is because of the amount we pay for it.

ii) The theory that we rationalise something irrational after the event has taken place, so that the events seem predictable and understandable.

It's completely arbitrary as you could apply all those 'great prospect' excuses to anyone, such as Henderson. If he does become great at Liverpool it'll have nothing to do with it being a bargain, it'll simply be a case of an exceptionally high level gamble having paid off.

Happy with the Boing Boing result. Now need to take full advantage tomorrow. I'm going too, another ground ticked off and fingers crossed a massive three points! Or not..., we'll see...be interesting to see what team Avi puts out anyway

Chelsea were a bit good. I'm still hopeful of a 6th/5th place finish though after some of the individual performances, despite the next 6 games of Spurs, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and both Stoke and Everton away. The remaining 7 games will be against bottom of the table teams so I fancy other teams to catch us up over feb/mar, but to have a far more difficult run in the remaining months.

you won't get 5th, defo.

You might get 6th, but I'd happily put money on Liverpool beating Sunderland to that now. Well, I would with anyone but you, you welsher.

No but there might be by the time he retires.

Good result for the Arse last night, delighted when they were 1 nil down but it would have had to be 2 or 3 by half time for them to lose.

What Moyesie going on about with Cescs "language" on the tunnel?

Rooney looks like hes coming back into form btw!
