I think he's talking about Justin Lee Collins' punishment for subjecting his ex-girlfriend to a horrendous campaign of physical and mental abuse.

And some guy gets 12 weeks for saying some stupid shit on twitter.

That is fucking ridiculous

The Manhatten photo above (not the ground zero one) is a year or two old. Some pretty nasty floods in south Manhatten though - Battery Tunnel flooded etc...

All in all though it doesnt look too severe. Good job world media again for going into batshit insane disaster meltdown mode.

Dispatches last night:

http://www.channel4....eporter-feature

You couldn't make it up, although Virgin do:

Virgin promises to provide 'outstanding service', but Dispatches found concerns were not confined to just one medical centre. This was evident in Teesside, where the company provides sexual health tests. The service repeatedly missed targets on the numbers of people screened for Chlamydia. A memo revealed staff were asked to take home testing kits to use on friends and family to help make the numbers up.

today's good news - Heseltine's report has it's sights on Osbore's head, and talks a lot of sense, rather than political doctrine.

Today's bad news - the new nuclear are being built by Hitachi (Hitachi - a name synonymous with quality and technical nous). Oh hang on, no they're shit and don't last five minutes as anyone who has ever bought a stereo from Laskys would know. Except none of the ConDems have, have they?

Brimming with the confidence the thought of coastal nuclear power plants built by Hitachi imbues - nothing in the sentence is cause for concern.

Why do we site nuclear power plants on the coast anyway? Surely anyone can see there's a danger right there.

In fairness, Hitachi are quite a credible manufacturer when it comes to some of the higher end storage arrays in the IT market.

yeah - I've told scott much the same thing this morning. Hitachi are not just the crap consumer electronics company that people in the UK might know them as - they're a massive industrial conglomerate, who make trains, and mainframe computers amongst other things.

Questioning Hitatchi's ability to design nuclear plants by criticising their electrical products is like questioning mars bars because kit-e-kat or Whiskas are rubbish.

Totally separate divisions of one massive conglomerate that little or no interaction with each other.

That said, it could be true that Hitatchi's nuclear plants and electrical products are both poorly designed and made. And Masterfoods chocolate and pet food too I guess...

Sorry to gatecrash the usual American-w*nkfest on here, but the Killing Series 3 lands on BBC4 on the 17th November, two episodes per night, 10 episodes in total. Sarah Lund's final murder.

Series 1 was the best drama series of the last 10 years IMHO.

does anyone know who the alleged politician is who's allegedly been involved in the alleged paedophile ring..?

can't remember his name, but it's not a household name. It's out there with a bit of googling, and has been for ten+ years.

If there's anything to this tho, that tory's name isn't going to be much of any scandal. What is going to be the scandal is summed up by the words of the current Welsh Children's minister (or something like that).....

He's said that it's not possible to read the remit of the enquiry nowadays and not have huge suspicions about its limited remit - and that's a remit that was set by the Welsh Office minister of the time. And that was a certain William Hague.

If you google around the subject and throw in a few names, some of what comes out is astounding. Some of that stuff looks beyond nutty and probably is ... but much of it doesn't, including the suspicions about Blair's supposed doings around Operation Ore.

I think there's an awful lot here to be dragged out, but I don't really hold much hope that much will be. You just have to consider where Hague is today to realise that if there's anything to any part of it, the chances of further cover-ups doesn't need debating.

Denis Macshane not worthy of a mention?

yep, he's a very small-time thief alongside all the other politicians at national and local level.

If we want to go after corrupt poluiticans, let's start with the leader of Cameron's own conservative Association, and then let's ask what sort of 'working together' the wicked witch was meaning? :P
