to me though, its just i dont understand the friday night at all. my chem romance, a band people dont think are big enough to headline, against beady eye, who are a new band, and are also not big enough to headline. if you were to slot someone like mumford above beady eye, i dont think there would be this much moaning about the lineup at all.

mumford/janes addiction/muse

is an excellent weekend, for me, anyway.

Its not a good line up for me, only 4 bands that I really like on the bill. Also for the first time, theres not a headliner I would want to watch on the 3 main stages on either day. If I do have a criticism it is that some of the bands like jimmy eat world, rise against, friendly fires and 30stm are higher than a band of similar popularity would have been a few years ago, but suspect thats a lot to do with guitar music decreasing in popularity recently. I can see how people would be annoyed that a band like jimmy eat world have moved up a place in 4 years despite the fact they have got no more popular. I also feel there are too many repeat bookings but thats probably down a lot to who is available.

what does this mean?

Main Stage

The Strokes (to close Reading)

Pulp (to close Leeds)

Will The Strokes be playing under Pulp at Leeds or are The Strokes only playing Reading?

Ignore, realised they're co-headliners B)

I'm all for it, Friendly Fires just sound like the Klaxons to me but I'd rather they got a shot at a high position than having to run away from another dull-as-shit set from Lostprophets.

I remember catching Friendly Fires set in the NME tent a few years ago and being blown away (and buying an album off the back of it). I'd really recommend seeing them if people can't decide what to see. Hard not to instantly enjoy some of the songs even if you haven't heard them before.

My observation is that the indie fans think the punk bands are too high and vice versa. With the newer bands, its hard to judge at this stage as nobody knows how big they will get. What I find most annoying is a band like jimmy eat world who since last time have probably lost a little popularity yet moved up the lineup for no obvious reason.

    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
    • 6music just shared a video of all of Fontaines DC singing along to the Cure last night. It'll be them. Booooo    Olivia might get up for I Love You though...
