Well tbf I never said I was dependent on the car, just that I considered it prudent. They insisted on the note after I had already agreed (with a certain condition) to go by coach. Anyway it's all much of a muchness now as they are OK with the note I gave them so I AM GOING :):):)

But, I am a bit worried that my train tickets that I booked supposedly to Kings Cross are actually only to St Pancras International. A 16 minute walk to KC from there apparently. With camping gear. At 9am in London. That's going to be a struggle.

Great news that you're going,  how about an uber,  not that I've ever used it.

That's not a bad idea but I don't possess a smart-phone and I may have a trolley with me (though I am seriously debating whether that will be a blessing or a hindrance).

16 minutes?!

Not unless you're 104 and carrying a fridge on your back. It's less than 5 minutes from the furthest platform to furthest platform. Come out of St Pancras, cross Pancras Road, walk straight into Kings Cross.

Thanks for that. That's reassuring. It didn't look that far on Google maps. Don't know the area. I'm more of a Charing Cross/Victoria man myself when visiting London.

I've just booked tickets to Disney/Frozen on Ice for me and the big kid for October. Not going to tell her though. Now to start planning my costume...  she's going to love it!

Probably should of tried harder in school instead of fucking around.

it's not always about education. You make blanket assumptions that people who aren't successful in your eyes, are also under achievers.

I'm glad for you that you're doing well, and that education has given you a route into what you want. It's not always the case. I worked in a contact centre, albeit a bit of a specialist one, and there were loads of graduates, part time teachers etc. working alongside me.

salary and ability aren't always synonymous. Sometimes people's choices are based on quality of life and not just money. sometimes there are barriers to success that aren't based on education or intelligence.

I didn't fuck around at school. I passed my exams and went to university. I also paid off my mortgage early through my own endevours. Now I'm in a situation where I want something else from life than mere money can provide.

Luckily my line of work doesn't have a huge requirement on English skills :D

It pretty much is always about Education....  And not all degrees are equal and not all teachers are good..  Hence why they now work in a call centre....

Or IT :D

I got mine under the old grant system, when only a minority went to uni.

after 2+ years of water pissing thru the roof when it rains, I have a new & fully waterproof roof on my creaking old house - hurray!

They've not quite finished all of the work yet, but they've finished enough for it to now be watertight.

Excellent.  I've got an old house, which I much prefer for charm, but there are times when mould isn't so appealing.

thankfully that's one problem we've not had, aside from a little around the bathroom window ... which has gone as well, as we've also had a couple of new double-glazed windows too.

You won't have any if you keep screwing them over :D

I don't think I'm screwing them over. They don't think that I am screwing them over. There is only you that does think so. That speaks volumes to me about your insecurity. Poor boy made good but still shits himself that it will all be taken away from him one day. You should try living Barry, before it's all over. :)

I'm pretty sure it's only a 10 minute slow walk, if that, so a taxi or borrowing a station trolley should sort you out OK.

Hi Yog, long time no natter. Hope you get that job, I'm up for a better job with better bosses too. We changed sections (hostile takeover) and the atmosphere's gone right down. I agree it's important to enjoy work. So, are you off in June or not? I lost track of your earlier comments but if you're off, I'll hopefully meet up on the Wednesday. If not, good luck on the gainful employment!

Hello carlos. I finish my existing job in two days and haven't got another lined up. What has happened is that I've won a pair of tickets to a festival this weekend. We've barley got any money but we have decided to go for it rather than box sensibly. This kind of sums up my input in to getting another job. That said, I had a call from an agency yesterday wondering if I was willing to take on a job being based at home. I've been too lazy to respond but really ought to pull my finger out on that one.

I think I get what you are saying above ie. have you been swallowed up by another department? I've been through more re-structures at work than I can remember. For years and years I fought to save my job but then thought 'fuck it' and took redundancy (if you can call giving them no option a choice).

Anyway, unfortunately I'll not be at Glasto this year. It's a shame because I'd be up for buying you a pint and having a natter.

Thanks for the best wishes. The same to you too. If you ever start to get hassled at work then I recommend pouring over the Policies and Procedures documents of your company. Some of the content can be full of ommisions, inaccurate additions and also be flavoured with it's own hypocrisy. It's a great artillery store for a battle.

Its a lovely feeling when that scaffolding comes down and you get your life back :D

particularly when the house has been extra dark for the last 3 weeks, because they'd covered the 3 skylights we have to protect them if anything fell.

Had my fillings and hopefully all is now sorted to not need any more work.

I'm now on the traditional Malteser suck as a stress relief / quick energy combo.
