Thanks for the information, aldo. Good spot.

I'm with you - I still can't see it happening but fingers, toes and every possible apendage are firmly crossed I'm wrong.

Dead right about preceding U2 - it would be IMMENSE.

I'm not getting my hopes up. I expect the worst but I'm hoping for the best. :P

yeh im not sure what my opinion is worth on here considering ive been lurking these forums for the last year and im in australia so cant speak from experience when it comes to these festivals

ive got tickets to reading (which sounds like a bad idea judging from consensus on here) so if arcade fire doesnt play glasto at least it looks like ill be seeing them at reading

Very interesting. Neil, what do you make of this?

I suspect that it's wrong. I suspect that Reading/Leeds have them as an "English exclusive" if not a "UK exclusive" - R/L likes to have exclusive headliners if at all possible.

I'm not saying that's definitely the case with Arcade Fire, but I think it's more likely that R/L have them on some sort of exclusive basis than they don't.

Added to that is the fact that Bestival tried exceedingly hard to get them, and appear to have been told that they can't have them because they're an exclusive for another festival.

They are just such strange choice for a reading headliner. I was convinced the first major uk festival they would headliner would have been glastonbury.

It sickens me that muse will be headlining in this special year when a fantastic, innovative band like Arcade Fire could have taken the slot instead.

U2

Arcade Fire

Stevie Wonder.

Truly something for everyone there.

Shame.

You can't please some people. We've got Stevie Wonder for crying out loud.

I'm just being grumpy, ignore me.

Unbeatable line-up though. Touch of the superlatives about that? :P

But what can you do? AF didn't seem too hot on Glastonbury last time they played (I remember Win losing it with the crowd about 4 songs from the end comparing it to a wake) and money talks - they didn't enjoy the big festival slog last time from what I read. Play one fest, be on the telly and get a big pay day

If they played that would be quite something but either way I think there are gonna be some horrible, horrible clashes in June. Just imagine if we had these three as the sunset slots on the Pyramid though... :P

U2

Arcade Fire

Muse

Flaming Lips

Stevie Wonder

Faithless

I'd be violently sick if Flaming Lips were to be considered a support act for Muse.

Although it would be quite hilarious to see "The Greatest Live Band In The World Ever!" get absolutely blown away by a band who have made consistently fantastic and varied music for over 20 years.

Yeh I don't blame them in the slightest. It's just a shame and somewhat suprising that the festival is reading. I wonder if the reading crowd are happy to see arcade fire headlining? I dont care enough to look at their messageboard though.

Still, we have good headliners, 2 of which I may well see which is rare so all is good.

We have to moan about something, right?

    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
    • Interesting the stat guys say 3 points and -3 goal difference is where it gets to 50/50 territory in terms of going to the last 32. If Scotland lose their last 2 at best they are on -1, play like they did yesterday and they could take a heavy loss.   However thinking about it positively get 4 points from the last 2 games and the group is won! Have heard a few saying Scotland should just park the bus next 2 games, but not sure they have the players to do it. From my perspective they could really do with a decent defensive midfielder to add balance, but not sure if they have one in the squad. They also need significantly more from Mctominay who I thought was poor, but understand he has been unwell.
