Christ that is not a suggestion I thought I'd hear made seriously. Not even in Dylan's top five. Excitement level listening to that for the first time compared to Funeral barely registered on the scale.

Although if you've only heard Funeral once I'd highly recommend it, as would a lot of other people by the sounds of it.

Oh - and Smile by Brian Wilson, if you were looking for another album of the last five years, anyhow.

I did a top 100 albums for the decade just gone based on me at the time, me now, impact and critical response and it was my number one. NB didn't make the 100.

Yes - that is irrelevant. For example, I would much rather watch Show of Hands at the Avalon Stage than Muse headlining the pyramid. I accept AF aren't as big a name as Muse etc, but that doesn't mean they couldn't pull it off, and it doesn't mean Glastonbury wouldn't think of having them as a headliner.

But Arcade Fire's reputation grew massively when Neon Bible came out (FWIW I love NB but it's not a patch on the sublime Funeral) and the slots they were given showed a rise in prominence.

Festivals like Glastonbury have been known to put faith into their headliners (Arctics, KoL, Travis in 2000, Muse in 2004 - all could be seen as 'risky' or 'unworthy' headliners by many people). I see the likes of Arcade Fire and Elbow as acts who are ready to step up to the biggest slots on the bill, now both have a decent back catalogue, decent festival pedigree and more and more prominence as acts.

We'll have to see how Arcade Fire/Elbow's new albums are received. I predict they'll both be huge hits and sell by the bucketload which could be enough to see them in the 'worthy headliner' bracket.

Time will tell.
