The Strokes

I've heard a number of rumours that the Strokes may be playing next year

Probably just the normal rumour machine but you never know

They are a band that I really like but have never seen live so I'd love to see them - I think that they would be great

3 questions:

Are they really likely to play?

If you have seen them live, how good are they and how would they be at Glasto 2010?

What's your favourrite track???

I have had the pleasure of seeing them live 3 times, for all three albums. The first one was at Bristol Academy (I think!), the second was at Cardiff Arena (With British Sea Power) and the last one was at the Colston Hall (Bristol). They were amazing all three times. The Colston hall show was the best, the lighting was great and it was all really intimate (If you been to Colston hall...you will understand).

I would love them to be at Glasto to put it short.

A side story, I bought a pint at the Colston Hall turned around and by accident spilt my pint....all over Elvis Costello. Given his reputation, Elvis was quite nice about it!!

Would love to see The Strokes play. Have been listening to them a lot recently especially Is this it which I still find fantastic. Hoping that Julians solo album will be just as good when it comes out in a week and half.

I think there is a good chance of them playing next year. I reckon they'll have a album out close to the fest probably bout May time so will be touring and I've heard Fab say he likes the place. Little Joy were supposed to play this year in a break in the Strokes recording but didn't for some reason and I reckon he'd want to play it this year.

Saw them live at Manchester Apollo in Jan 2006 and they were okay, but I was expecting a bit better. It didn't help having seating tickets though. If they do though I'd really like it to be in the dark. They had a good light set and having seen clips of them in the light at fests they don't look too good. Other stage headliners would be perfect but I think that may be asking too much. I wouldn't even mind if they headlined the pyramid tbh.

As for favourite track I'll say Take it or leave it. Though if you haven't heard I'll try anything once and Hawaii which are b-sides go to youtube NOW to listen to em.

I really hope that they play

My favourite is Reptillia - just love it

Sounds like a daytime slot wouldn't suit them - what about JP tent?

Never seen them and would like to, BUT someone I know who is a huge fan reckons they seem at their best in smaller, more intimate venues, so may not work so well on the larger stages at Glasto - even though they are probably too big for the other slots, unless it was a 'special guest' thingy at the Park or something.

(Just realised that's a ridiculously long sentence).

Oh, fave track probably Hard to Explain.

If they're on form The Strokes can be one of the best bands on the planet but sometimes turn up and seem like half the band. If they do play I'd hope there set would be heavy on the first album.

Depends how how much Mr C has had to drink !

    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
    • Took the words out of my mouth. He never misses.   Definitely adds fuel to the fire.
    • Gavin Leigh Davis on Instagram, the Fabrizio Romano of tour leaks, says Sam Fender outdoor shows and likely festivals next year. Didn't explicitly mention Glastonbury but adds more to the rumour
    • I think a lot of you guys don't see Tate McRae as headliner material however she was originally billed to play back in 2025 and had to pull out (https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/glastonbury-2025-headliners-revealed-tickets-line-up-1235915362/). She sold out out all of her arena shows in 2025 and just brought in huge crowds at Oshega and Lollapalooza. Given that she's gearing up to release the second album it lines her up for a tour run in her same gap as she's usually over here over Glaso weekend. I wouldn't rule her out.
    • I’d expect U2 & Muse to be options too.
