Ok...so if Glasto are not having any sports events...how are they going to explain NOT showing any of the potential England World Cup matches that are quite likely to be on during the festival???

I can hardly see 80k+ unhappy England supporting bunnies taking that one sitting down!

Sorry if I am getting muddled but as the organisers have always shown England matches when/if they are on...why would it be any different next year?

IF they DO show the footy matches on the Pyramid big screens (despite not letting you's lot have a friendly kick around on the Wendesday)...how's about you get into talks with them to ask if the Efest army can charity fundraise with the blue buckets while everyone is watching the match?

A quid from every punter in the field...£80,000 at least raised for WaterAid???

Chazboy Norainplease and Hogga,

You'll always be remembered here for such a great event in 2009. Just thought I'd add my thanks again. Can't wait to see you all again in 2010. Maybe you three can get drunk a bit at the cider bus and start talking about how much fun it would be to make an ice rink on the pyramid field! all in the name of charity of course.

Can only echo what others have said. It was a great idea for a great cause and a great laugh. Im proud to be able to say I played in the game and scored one of the ROW goals Everytime I look at the bruise on my leg (its stil there ) I think of the sunny afternoon, the laughs, the friends made and organisation that went into putting it on.

Id like to thank Hogga and Chaz for sticking with the idea and taking the time and effort into making it the success it was. Also, many thanks to norainplease, Neil and everyone else who played a big role in getting the game organised You are all owed many drinks come June 2010

Glastonbury have no problems for ad-hoc events to happen such as how the match happened last year. But as a festival of contemporary arts, arranged football matches is not something they want to be formalising as a part of the festival. They have no problem for the match to go ahead as it did last year if someone wants to do it in the same way - it is simply them not giving their resources to help it happen, and not to any extent the festival "not letting you's lot have a friendly kick around on the Wendesday".

In regard to (the proper) world cup matches that happen during the festival sometimes, they take a pragmatic view. They can't stop the matches happening as they're nothing to do with the fest; and they can't stop people bringing their outside interests with them when they come to fest. They have chosen to show games on the big screens in the past because they feel that the chaos caused by perhaps tens of thousands of festival goers leaving the site to find a local pub to watch the match in would cause problems for the local area and so impact back on the festival. Because of this pragmatism, I'd say it's likely that England games will be shown somewhere/somehow during next year's festival if they coincide.

To be fair Neil we never asked for it to be formalised or for them to give any resources. I think this gives the wrong impression of why me and Chaz were organising it. We just asked if we could bring the equipment on early (which would have included goal posts, kits, pitch markers, balls etc) and cut the grass ourselves.

Hello Everyone

It has been decided today to not go ahead with the 2nd eFestivals World Cup, we were holding out to see if we could go ahead with it, but due to extranious (sp??) circumstances we have decided to not go ahead with doing it next year.

Myself and Hogga would like to thank EVERYBODY involved from Nick (Norainplease-also my wife), The festival, Neil(mr Efests), Wateraid, Hobo Jones & the Junkyard Dogs, all the Cheerleading Squad. all the voulenteers on the day and Especially all of you, for turning up playing cheering donating etc. We raised roughly £2500 for Wateraid last year. and im pretty sure everyone can agree that we all had a fantastic time.

So what next???

Well you can always keep donating money to Wateraid, Oxfam or Greenpeace. you never know what may happen in the future, but personally i loved every minute of it, and 2009 Glastonbury was the year of The Boss and The football. We made the telly, the radio and the print press.

But possibly most importantly we all made new friends, friends we will all see at the Ciderbus Wed June 23 5pm 2010

I would say they made the right decision too.

Otherwise where would they draw the line? Tennis tournaments? cricket matches?

I alos think people going around with collection buckets is wrong too.

To be fair they can't stop people doing either of these things and I saw at least one tennis match this year and a couple of cricket matches the year before.

It's not like people where forced to put anything in the buckets on the day!
