Andrew Marr's new History of the World on BBC1 Sunday nights. He pulls together a fascinating series of developments and connections.

I only watched the fist half an hour, but there was nothing that wasn't done better on "The Increible Human Race".

Thought the same.I really hope Dwain Dibley pops up!That never fails to make me laugh!

Personally I hope they stop rehashing old ideas.

I watched the old series recently and the first two are still the best. Deadpan Holly stealing every good line, Rimmer and Lister being far more human and realistic, Cat was actually catty, I even prefer the original Kryten in his English butler mode, the drab grey setting, love it. Then it all goes really, really goofy. I used to love 3-6 when I was a kid and still do but the first two series are where it's all at.

By season 7 it's like they've all become their characters a little too much.

It all goes downhill midway through season 6 when they start rehashing ideas seen in earlier episodes, up til then the show always felt like it was going somewhere.

Will be watching season X though, but I feel it will be a bittersweet experience from start to finish.

The male Holly was the best,my fave episode being when they think he's being replaced by the black guy.

"We are talking jape of the century,April,May,June,July & August fool."

It did lose its way abit but I liked the last series when they were in prison, probably due to the fact that it was them in a different setting.

They have been repeating all the Red Dwarf episodes on Dave, but in reverse order for some bizarre reason.

I hadn't actually seen most of the later episodes, I'd pretty much given up on it when they originally aired. Watching them now, after having not watched any Red Dwarf for years, they aren't actually *that* bad, but still not a patch on the first 6 series.

Am I going to be called a philistine because I stopped watching after the 2nd series because it just got less and less funny?

I've seen a few of the later episodes (the one where everything goes backwards is the only one that sticks in my mind) and it seemed like it was just less funny, more puerile slapstick and knob jokes the longer it went on.

Pretty sure the backwards one is only series 3 episode 1 lol!It had a great conversation between Lister and the Cat at the start discussing if they'd shag Wilma Flintstone which was total stoner comedy.

Bringing back the crew was stupid. It utterly undermined the entire concept of the show - that Dave Lister was the last human alive. In fact it was ruined the moment Kochanski was brought back. They literally lost the plot.

The show actually started going downhill around season 3 in my opinion. That's the series where it stopped putting the comedy first.

The books were great though.

Yeah that was pretty much how I felt about the crew coming back, it just didnt ever feel right...I enjoyed it but no where near as much but that was pretty much the same from when Rimmer becomes Ace. (As much as Ace is a brilliant character.)

Really weird on Dave going from Series 8 to Series 1 instead of the other way around, but that might be a request as from what I've read online it seems as they plan to just ignore series 9 happened and don't want it as a continuation. (Rimmer being a hologram again, hints to me they are trying forgot 8 happened at all :P)

Also I don't think there's any Holly (male holly) again...which is a shame as has already been said was the source of some of the best jokes in the first series!

Yeah I saw an episode or two where there was a crew, decided it was not Red Dwarf, decided it was not funny, and didn't watch any more.

I only have memories of the four-then-five amigos. It's staying that way.

Kryten started appearing in Season 3, and you can't argue there were hardly any good Kryten episodes. Do agree RD went downhill rapidly, but think you've got the date a bit early. Your mileage might vary of course.

Kryten appeared in series 2 first, in the episode 'Kryten'. That's still the best episode with him in it I think, depicted as a total lunatic.

Umm...well not officially...

Had to look it up but I read Chase confirmed it in 2008 in a radio interview.

The fact that after each door bell ring it cuts to Tony's point of view shot. On the 5th one when meadow comes in it cuts to 10 seconds of blackness hence Tony's view is nothing, he's dead.

    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
