Heh, I wish I had been given the opportunity to see it not knowing. I watched it with my daughter a year or two ago, being careful to not reveal anything, the closest I have come to experiencing it.

I'm a bit crap with twists. I turned off shutter island after about 10 minutes because it is so blatantly obvious what the twist is and that the twist is all there is going to be of value in the film.

is it really that obvious? I didnt spot it, and I thought the movie was an amazing watch anyway..

But yes, Breaking Bad is fantastic. This weeks was particularly good.

Well, I turned the film off just after he gets off the bus, have never watched it further or read a plot summary but could ruin it for everyone in one sentence. Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious ;)

Maybe it is a bit like zen and the art of motorcycle mechanics, by learning everything there is to know about every other subject apart from motorcycle mechanics I would know how to fix a motorbike, or, in other words: I have seen too many films.

When he arrives at shutter Island he gets off a bus, maybe it was a ferry? Either way the result is the same, Bruce willis is already dead ;)

On the TV front I have watched this weeks weeds this morning. It just goes from strength to strength and I want to shake the hand of the shows creator and nod sagely or something.

I worked it out at the start of the film but instantly dismissed it because I thought it was too obvious.. turns out it wasn't.

I have to admit, I am still tempted to, at some point, sit down and watch it. I have been told it is great by so many people whose opinion I respect that I probably should. I still enjoyed 6th sense.

The big build-up of other people's ZOMG FIGHT CLUB 6TH SENSE TYPE TWIST can do nothing but harm the film. I managed to see the film without any of this kind of build-up and enjoyed the progression and revelations as they came.

I stopped getting into film PR with Terminator 2. Worst PR ever. The point of the start of T2 is you're supposed to think it's an Arnie returning to finish the job he failed to do last time, and another futuristic hero. The shotgun & roses scene in the mall complex... you're supposed to think he's about to kill (or try to) JC, but grabs him, protects him, you're supposed to have WTF going in your mind. But that didn't happen because of saturation interviews about Arnie playing a good guy this time and the tens of millions spent researching CGI morphing tech.

There's something to be said about River Song's SPOILERS warning...

I hadn't actually heard any of the hype at the time I watched it (apart from a mark kermode review, where he said it was really well shot/well acted and that the sets were great) so much as after I chose not to.

Totally agree though, my brother in law gave me his copy of 'The Bends' by Radiohead which he bought on the basis of adverts on Virgin radio telling him it was the album of the year every 15 minutes, so he bought it to listen to in the car and just didn't get it (he is a fan of 70s glam rock and Queen mostly). It always makes me smile, because there are very few people in the world less suited to radiohead's music than him and I got a free CD when I was skint :) It is still one of my favourite albums of all time.

Sorry, not film related, but marketing is marketing ;)

I don't get to see adverts anymore (apart from when I am in a location where champions league football is playing on ITV/Sky, such as when I might go to a pub to watch a match) or listen to commercial radio. The great thing about internet marketing is that it is so innocuous that if you chose to you can ignore it altogether.

I hate spoilers in trailers, I'm refusing to watch any Dredd trailers (saw the very 1st one) until after I have seen the film, for the exact reason you state with T2.

Looks like I am going cold turkey on the TV front for a while (Stupid Sky expecting to pay my bill. Stupid bill been nearly 200 quid. Stupid kids using the stupid phone).

Don't know whether to leave alone or watch stuff online. I have heard goods things about Community but I am put off by the idea of Chevy Chase.

I'm on to series 3 of Community and love it!Really comes into its own in the second series, great little show but not ground breaking or award winning.Just a great little show.

Wll say that Chevy Chase is my least favourite character though lol.

Ken Jeong is hilarious in it and Danny Pudi is really great aswell.

@mr rufus, if you have a PC and are not too fussed about seeing things live, do you really need to be in a hurry to pay that bill?

If you have a TV license you can watch most terrestrial channels live through streams on their respective website, for the "premium" channel content it is all out there on the web, either through streaming sites or torrents.

Yeah need to get the bill sorted as it includes the broadband and the phone. I have got the freeview channels still but, and I know this sounds sad, Sky is my main source of entertainment. When I start back at uni in a week or so things get mental workwise. I have uni, my counselling work (unpaid) and I work at the Royal Mail to bring the cash in and I don't really socialise. I really enjoy live tv and it helps me keep organised. For instance me and the youngest lad watch tv together on a Tuesday as it is Falling Skies, Newsroom, New Girl, Suburgatory and Person of Interest. It all starts at 9 so some are Sky+ and then we watch everything into the early hours. I really resist the urge to watch stuff online as I like to wait each week to watch new episodes.

Nothing sad about it fella, most of the population are watching TV or film as their main form of entertainment. I don't have a TV license myself so don't get to watch live stuff (might bend the rules a bit with streaming some footie and the occasional bit of bbc news) but am much the same. Going out isn't really my thing, I socialise at home with friends/watch TV/films on the puter (hooked up to a telly) as my main relaxation also, I just don't have the same view on TV shows being an appointment if you know what I mean.

As the only other person I've seen mention Falling skies (I'm a bit of a fan) do you know what has replaced it? It has been walking dead, game of thrones then falling skies, just wondering what is on instead now in that slot and whether it's worth watching (as everything else in that slot has been)
