Got to disagree, always wear my kilt at Glastonbury on the hot days. Far cooler than shorts with a nice draft, and wool is far better in the heat than cotton.

There was something in the papers a few months back An application for a variation in the premises licence was granted by Derbyshire Dales District Council and takes the capacity from 29,999 to 39,999. Jason Oakley, managing director of Y Not, said the application was submitted in a bid to get the festival back to being as good as it could be. He said that capacity at the last festival in 2020 was dropped to 29,999 because “projected sales were not warranting the size of the licence so decided to scale it back to reflect this." Looks like they've gone the same road as Bearded and increased their capacity.

First time back at Y Not since 2009, it's got a little bigger. Can't believe it's now 40,000 capacity. Any one been recently that can say how long the walk from the campervans to the arena is?

I know what you mean, I had that with McCartney this year. That 2004 McCartney headline set even edges that phenomenal Blur one for me. But this year paled in comparison. For that reason I'll go with Fleetwood Mac, Prince and Stevie Wonder in that order.

+1, the only queues that I had were accessing the festival from the campervan field. Never queued more than 5-10 minutes for food, when there was a queue at the toilets you could be assured that there were others nearby that weren't. Easiest access I've seen to SE corner I've had in years. None of my group of 6, combined total of 56 Glastonbury's, thought that it was any busier than 2019. Tried numerous times to tell people queueing for toilets that there were toilets a short walk away with no queues. There were huge queues for the toilets in SE corner, yet there were complete banks of toilets empty further in.

As much love as there was for McCartney, it was just underwhelming compared to his 2004 headline set. It didn't even make my top 5 performances of the weekend. And the same drugs were at work at Noel and Paul 😉

And yet I had my first ever exhaustive search there this year. They went through all 6 of the compartments in my belt and then sent me off to a white tent for a more thorough search after finding a couple of pre rolled joints. I had no bags so I was a little nervous of where they might search. At least the supervisor had the sense just to send me in.

I had a colleague who lives in Czechia, who told me after the 2019 festival, that her friend had tickets booked for them in 2022. I didn't have the heart to tell her that was bullshit.

I thought it was a great set, everyone around us loved it! Preferred it to McCartney!

This echoes my thoughts exactly, realised that we'd missed a great chunk of Wednesday waiting for the queue to subside but Tuesday evening was quite magical on the hill.

I think there was, I saw the same young guy sat by the school bus on many occasions. Was also privy to 10 of them getting a bollocking on Monday morning as they all queued for a tea together as the supervisor asked why it needed all of them to queue for teas. The look on their faces was priceless.

They were indeed, it was just one or two of the security that were a little abrupt. What was really annoying was the fact that they said they were short of staff yet when I eventually crossed the road, they had two of them doing bag searches. Surely they should have been deployed to manage the queue when they were short staffed.

Across the road. Initially, it was a flurry of vehicles passing and everyone was understanding. Then it dragged on, it was security who decided to let the posh folk through first. That was galling. To collect a bag from the lock up by Gate C and return up the hill took just over 90 minutes.

We were camped by the school bus in E20 and I can assure you that queueing to get in vis Gate C was horrendous. Sunday morning about 12.00 they closed the gates for 20 minutes just as I approached to collect a bag. By the time they reopened it there were hundreds of people queueing down the hill. Stewards had no idea why the gate was closed and security didn't have enough staff to man the slope entrance. When they did reopen they gave priority to the two posh sites, Love Fields and Festi Bells, which did not go down well. It wasn't at all well managed. One security bloke was more inclined to argue with punters than he was in trying to solve the problem. That queue remained in place all afternoon Sunday and it took over an hour to get in again. Did make me pine for CvW.

We didn't find it, between us we must have asked at a dozen bars. We were just greeted by blank looks. Once I've recovered from COVID, I'll call them in at the tap room and ask. They also did this one in honour of the legend slot.

There was definitely wood out this year, saw a large pile at the back of the tipis on Thursday afternoon. Last fire we had at a campsite was probably 2010, last one on the hill was 2017, had one in CV fields this year. Stewards came to check but it was deemed safe.

Bearded and Boomtown

That was our plan, ran out of decent cans on Sunday afternoon and the Brew York I took for friends was well received. I was hoping to treat them to more.

That's always been one of the thing's I've loved about Glastonbury. It's the young and old together. I started in my early 30's and had some fantastic conversations around Strummerville with some festival veterans in their 50's and 60's. I always thought that I'd stop around that point. Then I met a guy in his 70's (now a beloved friend) who's set the bar higher. His love for festivals and people is contagious. I hope to follow in his footsteps. As for those grumps who don't see why people would take children to Glastonbury. I loved seeing the joy on my son's face. He loved it then and he loves it now, it's a playground for all ages Our group now ranges from ages 17 - 74, at Bearded it ranged from 2 - 74, and three of my Glastonbury moments involved kids just loving life. Never forget seeing a baby taste is first milkshake and then wrestle it from his mum to take his first gulps. Still makes me smile. Long may it remain the same! As for the first timers in our group, one just couldn't get his head around the size of the place and the other is already a concert.

My wife follows Brew York on social media and apparently this was available on site. Did anyone manage to find it, we tried but with no avail.

That's strange, I'm with a provider that piggy backs on the Vodafone network and I had pretty good reception throughout. However, I was the only one of our group who had decent reception so it didn't make much difference. I only used my phone for photos and to check on the secret gigs.

This is why it was the only slightly disappointing set I saw. I was lucky enough to see the 2004 performance and it just didn't grab me like that one did. Having seen the rest of the set list , I'm glad I made the decision to catch Jamie T instead.

It was an awesome festival, definitely in my top 3. Busy at times but just brilliant from start to finish. Up there with 2010 and 2019.
