  1. The lack of ska is noticeable, and the only thing I'm clinging onto is that last year wasn't my taste in music but it was an exceptional festival. So far I have spunge, Beans, Bar Stool Preachers, Gentleman's Dub Club and a couple of others.
  2. Anyone been before? Saw it on the BBC in September and tought it might be a good end to the 2024 festival season. Looks a fantastic setting.
  3. Definitely considering this one, anyone know the capacity and what the bars were like? I'd rather not smuggle booze but do like a good pint.
  4. Not sure I blame you. We got early bird tickets for the entire family. My son loves the line up but it's not a good one for me. Too many shouty bands (Amyl, Sleaford, Bob Vylan (but I'll be at this one), Wargasm, HotWax, The Meffs) and the headliners are the poorest they've been since I started going. Still hopeful that the full line up will have a more balanced feel. At least you have one headliner you like
  5. Just coming to terms with it that I won't be attending next year! It's the first year that my group have tried and failed so I can't complain too much. Missed '11 and '15 due to work commitments but never tried for tickets in those years. It's been such a major part of my life but I doubt we'll be going for the resale for a number of reasons. Not willing to put everything on hold until April, I'd find it very difficult to choose which friends to include in the 4 (there's 6 of us) and doubt we'd get all of the campervan passes needed in April. So the run comes to an end. Bit gutted, but I know I've had my share of luck over the last 10 years. For all those lucky enough to have tickets, have an amazing time.
  6. If they'd have said Ticket day was on the 19th, I'd have celebrated my birthday another weekend. Although I'm genuinely more pissed off for those that swapped shifts, I don't think some people understand how much preparation goes into ticket day.
  7. not the same, and you know it, we've known the rough sale date for a year, my group keep those weekends free. Then we get the date confirmed and we make sure we're not busy. You can't do that on 2 weeks notice.
  8. That's my issue too, all of my group are staying at my house on the 18th to celebrate my birthday, so rather than being spread around the country with access to different routers, we're all going to be on one. I don't fancy our chances.
  9. Because people have made plans and they may not be available on the new date. Our group has the date in the diary from the moment it's announced. As it is we all have other plans for that weekend. If you're going to delay it, give more than two weeks notice. Why not have the sale in January?
  10. Completely underwhelmed, although last years line up was the weakest one (for my tastes) of the seven I've attended and I had the best time. Saying that, there are only 4 that are of interest on the poster and I've seen all of those many times. My explorations this afternoon also drew a big fat blank.
  11. The Interrupters are at Slam Dunk on Saturday and Sunday. Really hope we get them at Bearded on the Friday.

    REN

iirc he was down for Left field, it was announced just after I'd discovered him, via this forum. And whilst I've listened to him loads on Spotify and watched YouTube videos, never seen the need to like him on FB.
  13. The Reytons at Sheffield, playing to 12,500 fans, a joyous evening with great support from Declan Walsh and the K's. Definitely deserve an opportunity on the farm. Great show and a fantastic crowd.
  14. That's going to hurt the ones from my group, who did decide to risk it this year. Glad the weather is better then they expected.
  15. I feel the same, although giving it a miss this year. Always discovered some amazing acts at Boomtown but no new ones last year which I attributed to the line up falling just a week before, not enough time to research. I hope they find a balance, lots of my mates are also swerving this year, although not all of them, and waiting to see whether the new investors have a positive / negative influence on the festival. The decision was made easier by getting Glastonbury tickets this year but as mid-August approaches I'm beginning to get FOMO. Looking forward to the reviews afterwards and the lineup drop on Friday.

    Slamboree

We were there on the Thursday, Slamboree are always good fun. Great festival band.
  17. My mates The amazing weather Yusuf / Cat - not sure as a legend that it will be surpassed Random conversations with strangers Elton The sun streaming through the trees in Strummerville whilst Lottery Winners and Hak Baker played Strolling home at dawn on Friday from the Stone Circle and seeing hundreds of people pouring out off the SE Corner with smiles on their faces The volunteers Meeting an 8 year old who is wiser in the ways of Glastonbury (after 2 visits to the farm) then a load of my mates who have been multiple times. At times it was like listening to the veterans on here. The sheer joy of watching Oh my God it's the Church on Sensation Seekers Not meeting a single bell end all week
  18. My fifteen year old self would have loved to have seen that! Were you there?
  19. Lloyd Cole, seen him once at a festival, would make a great acoustic headliner for me
  20. Recent reads that I can recommend are 'Ska'd for Life' by Horace Painter - covering the Specials until they broke up - loved this. Shows the difference between touring now and then. Also, 'Before we was we' - the Madness early days Just about to start 'Me' by Elton John, had it for years but only just starting it
  21. Fully agree about the Sheffield arse wipe, but the 1975 front man is just plain creepy. Music is very mediocre and dull
  22. they've been amazing each time I've seen them, but I haven't seen them anywhere near enough!

    2024 Headliners

plus Chris Martin has more charisma in his big toe than that joke of a front man Turner. At least Coldplay provide a show and want to be there.
  24. I'm with you, my new cooler bag came into its own this year. It's slightly annoying that the crew bars seem to get a better variety of beer than the ones open to the public
