  1. I need to have a listen to Mr Bruce, I loved the Correspondents, so hoping it has a similar sound. He's a fantastic live performer
  2. Cheers, that saves me a job
  3. Interesting how people's memories are affected over the years regarding who the legend was. It was definitely in place when I started going in 2002 as we went to see Isaac Hayes and my mate had been telling me how good Willie Nelson was in 2000. As far as I can tell it started with Tony Bennett in 1997, followed by Al Green in 1999. Since I started it's been, IIRC, 2004 - James Brown 2005 - Brian Wilson 2007 - Shirley Bassey 2008 - Neil Diamond 2009 - Tom Jones 2010 - Ray Davies 2011 - Paul Simon 2013 Kenny Rogers 2014 Dolly 2015 Lionel 2016 ELO 2017 Barry Gibb 2019 Kylie My worst one was Ray Davies, my biggest mistake ever at Glastonbury was missing that to watch the England Germany game. Occasionally, you would hear snippets coming over the fence. Lionel was awesome watching on TV. Dolly was the most enjoyable. 2004 and 2005 both made me cry for the wrong reasons. Brian Wilson and James Brown were well past their prime and saved only by exceptional backing musicians. I can't remember who was 2003, will need to get out my old programmes.
  4. They definitely left everything on stage in 2009, really hope I get to see them on the farm again.
  5. Really enjoying Mr In Between, an Aussie crime show that is very dark but funny. It's about a hitman and his life in Oz.
  6. This surprises me! The best Wonderstuff gig I've ever seen was when they headlined Avalon. Best performance I've ever seen there! Atmosphere was amazing
  7. One of the early years (either 06 or 07), I managed to get 24 tickets for our small group and my younger brothers set of friends. They pitched their tents on the first row opposite the Other Stage and most of them stayed there all weekend. We were up by the Pyramid and everytime we called into visit, there was always someone there, they never even ventured towards the stage, quite happy conversing with the passer bys and watching the acts from their chairs.
  8. Yeah, we did this too. Saved a little lot of time
  9. It's in the SE Corner, which is where they used to have the campfire back in the day. My mate took me during my first festival and I fell in love with the atmosphere there immediately. I used to love talking to single serving friends by the fire. It was awesome.
  10. Mrs Boomtowner arrived at Reading 1990 with a blanket and a bin bag. Not sure if that qualifies as hardcore or just plain stupid. Not even a change of clothes! Apparently, her friend swapped the blanket for a couple of fags.
  11. You can't easily visit the Joe Strummer memorial stone any more. Although I've always managed to charm one of the security to let me pay my respects, and get a cheap beer
  12. The Lenor bottle (other makes are available) is a definite on my packing list, in fact it is always in the van. Only ever had one mishap and that was an overflow issue ☹️ Mrs Boomtowners swears by her female receptacle, she doesn't want to leave the comfort of her bed in the he middle of the night
  13. Us too, it was my son's stand out memory from his first Glastonbury, I really miss the outdoor cinema field. It was perfect for us with a young family, decamped up there with roll mats and sleeping bags.
  14. Imelda May, Tanita Tikaram, Ferris, OMGITC, Grace Petrie another excellent line up for Avalon
  15. Just looking at the 2019 Avalon posters, that was an awesome line up, there was more on that poster for me than there was on the main one. Spent a huge amount of time there in 2019.
  16. Sorry, I don't. Vocation is one of my favourite breweries so happy with that
  17. https://twitter.com/beardedtheory/status/1512490464854872073?s=20&t=UURWv8rwHYO5Vowzv7G1uQ Link to post if anyone wants the full listing
  18. Enjoyed Town of Cats at Bearded before, definitely worth it. Also incredibly happy with the brewery selection. Some old favourites; Vocation , Thornbridge, Magic Rock and Titanic and some breweries I've never heard of; Black Iris, Castle Rock and Hollowstone. Should be enough to keep me happy over the weekend
  19. This is also mine, what were we thinking. I love Ray Davies!
  20. Me too, it applies to many on here, those days spent on the Farm and in other fields around the country always feature in my favourite days of the years. And that post festival bliss can last a long, long time. I've missed it so, so much.
  21. Of course, I'd have liked to have a few more must sees, the 2020 line up had introduced me to the Lathums and I was really excited to see them, I don't have anything like that this year. The year before ,Bearded had introduced me to the Lottery Winners, new bands to be excited seeing for the first time. There was also Toots, Undertones, Johnny Marr and Primal Scream, it was a stronger line up for me when I bought the tickets. Not complaining at all. I know it's a strong line up, just not quite me. I'm sure I will enjoy Patti Smith (never seen her before and like quite a few, but I'm not excited by it), The Flaming Lips, Selecter, Gaz Brookfield, Hives, Bar Stewards will all be great because I know the people I'm with, will all be smiling and joyous. I will bask in their happiness. I'm sure I will also discover someone in Maui Waui, because I always do. Shout outs to Urban Voodoo, Cut Capers, Bloodshake Chorus, Swinghoppers over the last few festivals, all absolutely belting performances. But do I care, not at all! As you say, it will have some upside. I've missed my festival family so much over lockdown, it will be great to spend some quality time with them (just a shame we don't have the Wednesday as well). Also taking my grandchildren for the first time so it was going to be a different type of festival for me this year. We have babysitting duties for Placebo, one of my daughter in law's favourites. It's my son's and family's first Bearded and my youngest grandson's first, and he loves his music. That's the thing that excites me the most is seeing his reaction to the festival. I know he's going to love it! I'm also excited to see the beer menu drop, hopefully that will be soon
  22. This years festival has hardly any must sees from me, Dubioza and Frank Turner are the only ones
  23. Mysterines Sea Girls Rex Orange County
  24. They are definitely more entertaining than Bad Boy Chilla Crew! I only found out last year that GLC had done a Christmas album, I don't think my mother in law was too impressed when I played it.
  25. Well there was the wonderful Lost Vagueness in the same area. I remember dropping the wife and kids back at the tent in Family camping and then heading up there for early morning shenanigans
