  3. I still don't see why the royals should still fit into the system. Yes, maybe the royals may earn the economy a couple of billion. How much do 'they' cost us? No idea, me. What I do know (or at least 'think') is that they are leeches, and leeches we can do without. They represent a 'system' of control over others which shouldn't exist in today's day and age. f**k 'em!

  4. Interesting that so many are against the honours system unless one has been awarded someone you like. He has accepted it it otherwise it wouldn't have been announced. I am surprised he hasn't blabbed about it though. Congratulations Michael.

  5. If anyone deserves it, it's him. Decades of making hundreds of thousands of people happy every summer, enormous sums to charity and boosting the local economy to boot.

  6. Ideally this country would grow up, get rid of the monarchy and all the empire related awards nonsense that comes with it, to be replaced by some new system to recognise the efforts of individuals etc. Until then, congratulations Mr Eavis.

  8. from the new interview on the official site it sounds like he wouldn't turn a knighthood down cos he knows his mum would be disappointed with him if he did.

  9. Must have been all the hanging out with Sir Elton and Sir Paul last few years. Visions of them sat round a big round table in a castle with their broadswords. Wouldn't be much use if there was any trouble TBF.

  13. I get where you're coming from with that. But the recipients uave a working lifetime of chipping in for it would be wrong to Rob them of it. Would cause all sorts of problems.

  14. Well this is one of those rare situations where the knighthood is deserved. However the concept of knighthood has been sadly debased over recent years.

  15. Few people have been as culturally/charitably influential to this country over the past fifty plus years. Even if the award itself is uncomfortable for some, it's lovely to see the man's efforts be recognised at the highest level. Hope he rocks up in those denim hot pants. f**k it, knight him live on the Pyramid before a headliner, I say.

  18. Not a parent but work with newborns. Met a woman breastfeeding her 5-day old in 2017 on the walk from Pyramid to Other. I actually think a newborn is probably easier than a chunkier baby... Stick em in a sling and make sure mum's wearing high vis - tons easier than negotiating a pram with a bigger kid. They sleep, feed and not much else at that age. V tiring obv but she'll be tired anyway. Choose your tired.
