AI says Midlake are “plausible”, what do we think? Weighing up whether to go to Thekla this week or cross fingers for EOTR.

Go to Thekla. That’s what I’d do. I like to take my chance while it’s there. Nothing worse than holding off only to find a clash with someone you want to see even more

Gonna double down on this ahead of tomorrow's announcement, but replace The Beta Band with Broken Social Scene

Broken Social Scene announcing a new album, played EOTR 10 years ago, are generally quite legendary...

Would love BSS!

Badly Drawn Boy on the other hand...no thanks. Would play at your local Tesco Metro if you paid him. Probably not a popular comment...

I wouldn't take AI's word for it, but they're as plausible as any American band to be an anniversary returnee.

I reckon there's a 99% chance of Maddie Ashman playing..

Given she played the Christmas gig I'd say it's very likely.

They're pretty good at surprising us. One of the reasons why I love their lineups, it's not predictable like so many festivals.

This is another thing I've been considering, that before last year's first two announcements we had no idea there were new albums from Matt Berninger, Viagra Boys, Goat, These New Puritans or For Those I Love impending, and had it not leaked out the previous day Self Esteem wouldn't have been an obvious headliner choice if only because she seemed to be aiming higher. Plus a whole host of names you've currently never heard or maybe once saw the name of might be about to become new favourites.

But clashes with France v Ireland 🏉! Going to wait for the line up tomorrow 🤞 and think on….

Imagine it is people putting 2 and 2 together because of their post

The news they're announcing is an album. HOPEFULLY it's also a tour. would be extremely happy if so, one of the only active bands that I've never seen but would love to.

    • I really like the Cheap Thrills! I saw them at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester in January at one of Chris Hawkins' "Awesome Friends" nights (which i think is why I even got tickets as it wasn't listed as a Cheap Thrills show!). Very good live and some great songs. I would've gone Saturday if I'd planned ahead!
    • They also seem to be in a mission to break the US with their new major label and this latest LP   Mid afternoon, live streamed on Disney+ is arguably a much bigger gig than Kendal Calling, if they had to skip one
    • This is massively exciting. I've been curious to who will be provide vocals for their live show and this is mega!
    • Seems to be getting reported as his only headline show in UK, I would say he's probably out BST now but can be on the Sunday teatime glasto slot or something
