Any other podcast listeners get the vibe from james that both festivals are still a little bit away from getting an announcement last year the weeks leading up he spoke more about the fests and how booking was going.

Nah, Trees have already said there's is this month in a recent email. I'm guessing it's just not til the last week so they can announce some bands from the Common Thread tour

I actually have a feeling it could be as soon as next week, I know James has said on the pod he's on holiday at the end of the month, and would maybe want to do the announcement when he's around

Ah yeah I remember him saying that and me thinking he'll drop the line up then go on holiday.

Nah, podcast is quite rightly focusing on Damnation at current, so just not talking too much about the other 2 fests.

Saw architects last night, Sam's voice did not sound good

Not good is being kind. It sounded absolutely f**king awful. His singing was fine but has never been that great anyway. His lows are still class but the highs sound like an awful Bryan Garris impression. He used to be my favourite live vocalist but I'd say since COVID he's been brutal.

Would love to see Beans on Toast and Grace Petrie at Trees again. Hopefully we get one or both for next year. Not sure why Beans hasn’t done it again the amount of live shows he does.

Was thinking out him the other day, think he could pop up 2027 as its the 20th anniversary and he was at the first one I believe

He sounded incredible Holy Hell tour 2019. When I saw them in 2023 his vocals were terrible, a huge drop off

They were alright at ally pally but were pretty bad at download in 23 i personally dont think they fit in with 2000trees vibe even if james at one point really wanted them to come play

Yeah they don't really, Bullet have a bit of nostalgia to them, Architects don't so I don't really see them going down particularly well, don't think they'd play anyway, I reckon they'll be main support to Deftones at APE

James did wonder if the Trees crowd wants heavier music as the cave was fuller than the Axiom last year, but I'm sure common sense will prevail there in regards to where the bastard sun was pointing most of the day being the reason for that

Is the show still worth seeing though? I haven't caught them live before and they're near me in Oz in December so I'm tempted

Saw them last night and great fun. Sam could probably do more to manage his voice, I would be more then happy if he stopped the growling and sung in a way that suits him more these days.

Architects, Bilmuri, Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach and President all most likely ruled out of Download given European festivals over the same weekend. Wonder if we could see any at Trees given Slam Dunk also haven't announced any of them yet?

Papa Roach would definitely inject some fun into the line-up. I'd love them as a wildcard headliner.

I still enjoyed it as a whole, I didn't think the vocals were as catastrophic as some people on here have said, just off

From what I had read on here, I thought it was going to be awful but as you said it just was not quiet right. i think "just off" sums it up perfectly.

Their tour would technically rule them out and make them too big for Trees, 3rd down main stage at like Download at the max for a Trees headliner

Several Trees headliners have headlined arenas, it doesn't technically rule out anything and Papa Roach haven't played Download in 12 years so nobody knows where they'd play anyway

So tells me the several trees headliners that have done arenas tours?, mot just one smaller arena but tours?, aside Don Broco maybe.

So because Papa Roach haven't played Download in 12 years, the fact they have played Liverpool, Nottingham and Wembley Arena recently and 3rd down bands usually play a couple of Brixton dates on their own/one Ally Pally or Wembley Arena max doesn't give any i dictionary they might well want to play above 3rd down like they are everywhere else they are playing in Europe? Bit if silly statement really.

So you've given me three? I'll give you Broco and Shikari did a few arenas on tour, so where are the others to have played arenas on a tour rather than the odd smaller arena? You're not having Bullet though, they play Nottingham the odd one time when gigs could happen again and Welsh Arena being from Wales lol. Did one Ally Pally years ago. Their biggest tour was unsold off their biggest album way after Trees.

    • Maybe hopeful but get Knocked Loose on the Sunday opposite the legend. Similar to the slot Turnstile had in 2022. Would be absolutely phenomenal.
    • One of my personal favourite bands at the minute - MUNA. Was very surprised not to see them booked in 2023 with their last album but hopefully they'll be around next year. Very fun new album from these guys and, as aforementioned, another standout for me at Big Weekend.
    • Absolutely second this. Were great at Big Weekend and already have a great catalogue of songs forming so far. Would love to see them on the farm!
    • A mixed first day for us. First of all, we were honestly quite shocked that there was no security check at all at the VIP entrance around 7:30 PM. No bag check, nothing. I’ve attended Primavera many times over the years and this felt surprisingly lax for an event of this size. Did anyone else experience the same?   Another disappointment was the communication regarding the weather situation. Primavera has some of the best sound systems and speaker setups in the festival world, yet somehow they were not able to make a single clear announcement explaining what was happening. Instead, people were expected to read tiny messages on screens in Mordor while thousands were left wondering what was going on. A simple and direct audio announcement would have gone a long way.   On a lighter note, this guy absolutely made my day. Sitting right in front of the Estrella Damm terrace, wearing nothing but a long-sleeve shirt, jeans and a pair of Converse All Stars, he remained completely unbothered by the rain. While everyone else was looking for shelter, he sat there wearing sunglasses, calmly watching the crowd as if he was watching a movie.   Absolute main character energy!
    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
