Bravo Decathlon. Surely they're making a loss from this though

People often forget or lose giftcards, or spend part of it and then forget/lose it. Good business move!

I think much of the loss will probably be mitigated by the increased custom and the fact that they sell their used tents for not much less. Plus there will probably be an expiry date on the gift cards too. Now if only I hadn't just bought mine last week...🤦‍♂️

Return it then re-purchase it

I’d be lying if I said that hadn’t crossed my mind but I’m happy with my purchase especially with 20% off the price and I can see it lasting me for a good few years.

Won't make any difference, why would someone who is too lazy to pack up their tent and who is willing to lose the money invested in it, decide to not only make the effort to pack it up and carry it back to the car, but also take it back to the shop to get a credit? Simply won't happen. It is a good deal for responsible campers who may try out a tent for a festival then decide they could do with a different one or some other gear, In reality the vast majority who buy a tent will keep it. (or leave it behind if they are too knackered / irresponsible to bring it home).

That's the spirit

I'll never not be shocked by people leaving their kit behind at a festival. What a combination of selfish, lazy and environmentally uncaring. We've done many festivals, with and without children, in sun and rain and horrible mud, and it's never once crossed our minds to leave anything (except a punctured air bed which we put in the bin).

(Not meant to be a boast, and I'm sure 99% of people on this forum would say similar 🙂

100% with you there. I have a certain amount of pride in looking back at my pitch and it's clear bar the footprint - thinking well that was a few days of fun!

Good on Decathlon though! Worth a try!
