Apparently it IS 4 days next year

I wonder if that's because they are going to try and aim big again like 2023 numbers (but hopefully better managed). Dropping from 130000 to 75000 must have seen revenues drop significantly. People forget it's not just ticket sales it's food, merch and booze sales too.

Could it see it being:

Linkin Park / Ghost / Iron Maiden / System Of A Down

Or maybe even Rammstein in the mix....after multiple stadium tours a festival tour may suit them. And perhaps Foo Fighters might finally be tempted if they start touring again?

Linkin Park / Iron Maiden / Rammstein / Ghost would sell out 2023 style as long as they had a half decent support bill ..and given how bad this year's is there must be alot of bands available next year.

We know Metallica are doing their own shows obviously.

Not something look forward to haha.

It was so odd listening to a DJ playlist at a comedy show a few weeks ago where it went straight from Espresso to System of a Down's Chop Suey

Admittedly it was all songs with food in the title

How have Green Day not sold out their day with less than 3 weeks to go?, not even a tickets low warning on the site.

I'm happy for there to be less people there on the day but to book them with their day which is very strong and easily get tickets still now is madness. It just shows the appeal.

I could've been up for it if it wasn't £135 per ticket

But then that kinda is the going rate right now and people were willing to pay similar prices for Green Day's stadium tour last year

My belief is that the sent out 4 offers for bands and they all got accepted to some extent, therefore certain changes had to be made to include them all

Very possible, though there are still some bands that wouldn't have been offered in that first 4.

You’ve got Maiden, LP, Blink back this fall and likely over here next year, SOAD, Rammstein and Ghost being 6 bands I can see being ik that mix. The only one's I am confident on are LP and Ghost.

It's a significant drop. There is one thing is having a range of 85/90 - 100k, and then another dropping 15k from that lower point anyway. As long as it's not 2023, way too many sales were made that year and they just allowed it to be a cash cow.

LP won't play the Thursday as they are in Germany and all the other dates they have announced even with added festivals around leaves them gaps between days I believe. One of the Friday to Sunday though. I dont think they've got SOAD but my ideal 4 would be a mix of LP, SOAD, Maiden and Blink. If they could do that it would be great.

Yeah I paid £85 i think for Green Day standing in Manchester but with rubbish supports. Download is overpriced for what it is but I've got a ticket through the second hand market for just over £100 for the day and 3 bands before them I really like plus another two I'm happy to catch.

Oh yeah I forgot Twickets and below value spares could be a possibility. That's how I'm trying to get in for Pulp tbf.

I was at the Manchester show you speak of so would indeed have paid that as the price of admission. I like Nothing But Thieves so was content with them as a choice. Wasn't sold on the first one though.

I sat through NBT in the side seating area I managed to sneak in until later, was bored AF lol but horses for courses. I can't imagine why they were chosen as supports when you consider Weezer and Fall Out Boy were previously and Weezer is again now.

I virtually go straight to twickets now really. Three Days Grace has already sold out so that will be a twickets too.

Did anyone catch the Champions League Linkin Park performance?, I thought the newer stuff was performed fine, not a fan of up from the bottom anyway, but Numb and especially In The End just don't hit.

Yeah I was saying that, new stuff is good as a standalone thing but no one can replace Chester and that’s an issue for a lot of people.

I'd happily hear all the stuff again and it's fine when Mike sings but it just goes odd when Emily comes in. I actually think they cut the emptyness machine part way too soon as it's still their best song.

Still a better review of it than from Dutch football pundit Marco van Basten, who called it garbage and a disgrace.

This is an interesting poll for the festival louder than life setup yesterday for what people would like next year so based on a festival crowd.

Obviously numbers can change but Ghost, Chili Peppees and LP being bottom is interesting

Thing is though Rammstein aren’t really attainable due to the stadium tours, same kinda goes with AC/DC. Metallica have a tour so ain’t doing it. Got to same I’m surprised about Paramore tbh. But Paramore would be a better booking than Linkin Park with the lineup change.

No surprise those bands are in the bottom 3 in the USA.

Ghost are probably too gay with all of their makeup and theatrics for modern Americans.

LP have a woman fronting them now so that’s probably too woke for modern Americans.

RHCP are simply just too sh*t for anyone anywhere these days, not just modern Americans.

The thing is with American rock festivals though, they cover mutliple rock genre better than a lot of us do and they have a better open market than the likes of Download.

I would probably still take currently LP over Paramore, their sets are just a bit weak now to be honest. I think there was only 8 songs from 21 on their last tour I was bothered about. I think they'd go down like a lead balloon at Download. If Green Day has gone how they did with their day then Paramore aren't going well.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
