No they aren't, they've got both 13th and 14th free with a France gig on the 16th. The fact that France gig is the 16th and not the 15th as good as confirms them. They could still have technically had the 13th off and played 14th and 15th. It looks more a case of when they annoucne them than if currently.

They’re playing Germany on the 12th and a festival on the 14th which leaves Saturday 13th free to play.

Ghost, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden

Subs: Parkway Drive, Architects, Judas Preist

Friday main more 'rock' and punk orientated

Saturday main more modern metal and metal core

Sunday main more old school

Opus headliners:

Disturbed, Lamb Of God, A Day To Remember

More metal / heavy rock on Fri and Sat, more pop punk/rock on the Sun.

Not really a prediction, more a what I'd ty to do with these headliners if it's them.

Can't understand why anyone would want the current line up of Linkin' Park to headline. I never got to see them with Chester and I feel like I'd be watching a tribute act with Emily at the helm. Might as well book Queen + Adam Lamber for the Friday and current touring members of AC/DC and have a full on tribute festival.

New album is good and she sings the songs as well as anyone could, in my view. Not the other band members fault what happened,  they have the right to go on.

I'd didn't see then with Chester either which I regret but any festival they played there was always another band on I wanted to see more at the time, but also I'm alot more free with my music taste now.

They mentioned on Kerrang radio that they have a set of spectacular headliners for next year, assuming they’ll say that whoever is playing though.

Don’t know if it’s just me but I don’t see Iron Maiden playing unless it’s labelled as a last UK festival show it seems like the way the festival is heading is not to have classic rock, they didn’t pick up Def Lep/Motley Crue who played Lytham instead, wondering if Maiden will be the same scenario.

They don't. Copping openly stated he'd approach 21 bands to headline last year's festival and the majority said no to it. So if they're saying they've got spectacular headlines or incredible headliners (kam on instagram) they're setting a very high bar and it's not in keeping with their normal model.

I think a bit like Metallica, if Maiden want to do it they're doing it and the festival moves heaven and earth to accomodate them.

I think the new album has some alright songs but I wouldn't call it above average. Their debit song is the best by a clear mile though. I agree with its fresh from a new music kind of perspective but it is a bit tribute like when it comes to the older stuff. I'm not saying she murders anything like but while I don't expect it to be the same, it's hard to get past it's really not. I actually thought similarly, as much as I enjoyed the Sex Pistols at Download, it didn't feel special like it woukd have with John Lyddon.

Def Leppard and Mötley Crue are nowhere near the draw they were, which is probably why they didn't get picked up.

Maiden are still a proven draw.

Motley Crue aren't even headliners. Def Leppard only headlined last time because they were doing Hysteria in full -  a standard Def Leppard set isn't headlining nowadays. Not to mention the festival seems to have (wrongly, in my opinion) turned it's back on classic rock in recent years.

Maiden haven’t got the pull Metallica have imo, there’s still tickets available on their upcoming UK tour in Birmingham & Manchester arenas if Metallica do them arenas they go instantly, honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Download pass on Maiden next year.

At the time though Motley Crue being back was a big pull, they played Wembley Stadium and Maiden haven’t even sold out 2 arena shows on an upcoming UK tour which has shocked me tbh.

They're will be a lot of people - myself included - who'll buy a Donwnload ticket because Maiden are there but wouldn't buy an arena ticket for them as a solo show. They need to at least bring some older rock back to the festival - the last 2 years they've alienated a massive chunk of people who've always seen the festival as a second home by not putting older bands on the bill.

To be honest Maiden only did an arena tour 2 years ago plus after headlining Download. There just isn't a point of where a band on a Current time around will keep selling. They do regularly tour. It would be a surprise to see them pass on Maiden and book two smaller one's with LP. But both would be counted as a 'risk' I reckon against recent booking hints.

Is it not only Manchester that has tickets for Maiden? Which is three arenas and a stadium. Safe to say they're a sizeable draw. Wasn't counting resale there btw.

Motley and Leppard were supposed to play Hampden. Got put into Glasgow Green because they weren't selling any seats and it was going to look terrible. I'd imagine the green didn't look too sharp either. They might have played Wembley but there's a reason those bands are at Lytham now.

I’m not saying Maiden aren’t a headliner, I’m saying with touring this year 2 arena dates not sold out (Birmingham available general sale on AXS btw) will they really shift a load of tickets next year for Download? Unless it’s billed as their last festival appearance.

Either way if they are booked next year we will see a good Iron Maiden show at Download and will maybe bring some old punters back who haven’t decided to come the past 2 years.

I think they still would shift tickets. There's a good portion of people who wouldn't go to an individual Iron Maiden show but would definitely be more likely to buy a Download ticket if they were on the bill - as I said in a previous post I'm one of them. They might not be a Metallica sized draw but they'd definitely shift tickets.

I can see Volbeat subbing Apex or heading Opus next year. Same with Parkway Drive.

Parkway Drive won't be back til they get a headline spot now - 2028 doing a full album performance of Reverence is my best bet.

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
