Post Malone

I do wonder when the day will come when Post shows up at the G. I think at this rate he would undeniably be headliner material but I wonder how it would go down. Hopefully he would keep his pre-country catalogue like Better Now, Circles, Sunflower, Congratulations etc.

Big enough, yes, but in the conversation, probably not.

But there may well be a point where the conversation necessitates getting wider. If his stock continues to soar, I could see him as a potential heritage pick in fifteen years or so - but we're getting well ahead of ourselves.

Were there many if any whispers of an REM reunion?

Nah, just wishful thinking since all 4 members appeared on stage together recently. Oddly enough, not long after that, a friend of a friend who does sound for a major band (former pyramid headliners) posted a cryptic message about doing sound for R.E.M…probably unrelated, though when not required by the band he works for, they do loan him out. Anyway, probably nothing, but I’ve always felt they were owed a lap of honour given how they ended.

I dont do many big concerts ... in fact im yet to do Wembley ( tried for Coldplay last min ) but id definately try for REM

I'd also say that when it came to choosing who I'd choose, if REM were in the equation I think I'd choose them over DM with The Cure and Gaga. But I wouldn't be against REM, DM, Gaga for sure.

Adele has only dine BST since here comeback, would be amazing to see her! She loved doing Glastonbury so I’m sure would be keen once she’s having her current break.

I hope so but from my limted understanding its if she decides to come back rather then when.

Fingers crossed

Sounds similar to the Talking Heads thing when they turned up together for the remaster of Stop Making Sense and lead to people hoping they were about to do something more than just that.

Dave might have lapsed from the conversation by then. Difficult to say.

Doubt it. He'll get his time at some point I'm sure, similar to The 1975  this year.

Think he'd have to retire from doing shows or something for it not to happen in the next decade.

Yeah, I think he's up there.

I had a vague hierarchy of British first-time headliners from the last decade-and-a-half or so before 2024 and must admit that The 1975 were not the next one I expected.

Probably goes:

Harry Styles

Sam Fender

Fred again..

Dave

Bring Me the Horizon

Raye likely vaults into the conversation before then, and perhaps Little Simz too.

I'd replace Charli XCX with BMTH and definitely include Raye in the list too. Fontaines too like you said, if we're including Irish acts.

BMTH headlining Glastonbury is very doubtful. They'll get the Other headline but that's as far as they go I reckon. I think Fender comes before Harry. Fender is the one to stake the money on as soon as 2027 odds come in as long as you know he's likely to be about. In fact, he's likely to do it off a a new album. I agree with some that Fred may have missed the boat this year and by 2027 there will be other options around.

Styles one of those who could well bypass it - he doesn't need Glastonbury, and he would have to lower his likely fee. Fender and Fred again.. clearly in the frame. Charli XCX is going to need another level to reach - which she may well get - as does Raye. Both basically playing equal spots on the bill as Pyramid sub/Other headliner. Fontaines D.C., reportedly turning down Pyramid sub, suggests they are wary of taking it and then failing to build off Romance, perhaps, but we'll see. I'd have assumed BMTH were topped out, but they're outright R+L headliners in a year where they've binned off the dual headliner strategy for the most part. Throw in their excellent arena sales last time around and they could be feasibly in the mix, though do believe they need another crossover hit to sustain momentum.

You could say this about so many acts who go on to headline regardless.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
