Well, @Sziget2025_Leaks has just revisited as he liked my comment about his visit being fleeting a few pages back. Is there anything you can tell us @Sziget2025_Leaks?

For example:

- are we going to get a Wet Leg, Vampire Weekend, Prodigy etc type announcement or is that it now for known names?

- are there subs missing or are you not working that way this year?

- when are announcements re: staging coming? Same question related to night-time changes?

- how are ticket sales going?

Let me help you:

1. No

2. No

3. March

4. Don't ask.

I share an office with a 22 year old, a 25 year old, a 26 year old and a 28 year old. I asked them all to look through the line up and tell me how many of the 61 acts they've heard of.

22 y.o: 12

25 y.o: 11

26 y.o: 12

29 y.o: 14

It's not a great return really, is it?

Did they all have black t shirts and long hair?

But we have KoL! It’s just that they are girls and korean this time.

I think KOL would have been a great addition, never understand the hate. Perhaps they overplayed festivals and people grew tired of them.

No, three women and one guy.

One of the women (22 y.o) is going to Download this year ngl. The others all enjoy a variety of different music but the majority of the acts are just a little too niche for 300 euros a ticket i feel.

I love KoL. Closer is one of my favourite live songs.
I think the hate comes from them being  quite a boring act previously if you didn’t know their songs. They’ve been putting up much better shows post Covid.

Think it all stems back to Sex on Fire. It rocketed them into becoming a headline act without them having developed a stage persona. People were just waiting for that one song to flip out to so weren't engaged in the earlier stuff and the band aren't the most engaging so it just became a meeting or the bored and the boring.

Agree they've improved since Covid - really enjoyed them at Sziget in 2022. I think them playing Sex on Fire early on in their set helps too - everyone waiting for that just clears off.

I think it can be said about a few festivals. Perhaps only the lineup based acts like werchter/mad cool is the exception.

Take Roskilde, which is arguably in the top 5 of festivals. How many do you recognise? Probably not many more.

That was there 4th album.

For me they were headlining everywhere for a 4 or 5 year period. Same thing happened with the stereophonics in the late 90s/00s. People just get bored, rather than do 2 years of touring and disappear for 2/3 years.

I've not seen KOL for years, would certainly watch them if they did a gig or a festival I'm attending. Although probably wouldn't choose a festival because they were playing.

I am 26, I have heard about 8 and only listen to 6. But I think the headliners are strong, the other is mehh for me

From my POV, KOL are just simply boring live act. I like their earlier stuff pre-Sex on Fire, but even this somehow falls flat at their shows for me. As they have no stage presence, everyone in the audience just waits for 2-3 hits but doesn't care for the rest. RIP 2023 was plain dreadful, everyone chatting/being on their phones, just to wake up and wabe for Sex On Fire... I am trying to avoid them, they are at the same boat as Mumfords and Imagine Dragons for me 🙂

I love listening to Kings Of Leon on Spotify bug yeah, I found them boring live, both time I saw them at Sziget. Btw I usually don't go to festivals to see the biggest acts I could, but to enjoy the whole experience. That's why I like Sziget. Otherwise I would choose other festivals with fewer stages and a Better lineup, or Simply go to see the single gig near where I live. Sziget provided a decent experience and a Wide choice among artists and performing arts, It Is usually my back up Plan when I can't attend Glastonbury (like most years ahaha, like everyone). Still, they are removing stages and experiences year After year. I really Hope this year they Will come with something new, otherwise there's Nothing in this festival that Is changing, Just worsening

Yep, they completely deny the "older festival goers", at a time when the average age is increasing because those "before 2000" are much more fond of festivals than the new generation.

I'm pretty sure they won't reach the figures of 2018 and 2019 (or even 2022!).

Naturally they'll never reach the figures of pre-covid again. The grounds wouldnt be able to handle it. It's just too dry and dusty these days. Did you see how bad it got last day last year when they finally had their first big day?

I wonder how many people bought the early bird this year because I did enjoy paying 150e second hand last year.

I came out of the A38 after watching Yard Act to find the main stage looked like the Sahara during a sandstorm. Skrillex was playing and almost everyone was dancing the standard EDM dance of one arm in the air and stomping/kicking out one foot. The amount of dust this threw up was phenomenal.

If they have many more EDM acts on main stage this year (which looks likely) it could be carnage of the lungs!

Really? It was so much worse in 2019. I was very much ok with the dust level last year.

In 2019 during 21P I remember violently caughing it was so bad. I can’t remember anything like this from the last two years.

It's had its bad days every year we've been, but I think last year hit so hard because we weren't already in it, we walked towards it and it was like a fog. Maybe when you're in it already your eyes adjust to it quickly.

Out of all the years I've been 2023 was the worst. So much that we avoided main stage all day.

Does anyone know of any wheelchair accessible hotels or apartments in the area?

Try writing an email to the festival. They also help in questions like this and they also have a "little stage" where people with wheelchair can look at the main stage and watch the performances.

And ask chatgpt which hotels are wheelchair friendly and chatgpt will send you 3-5 links. Of course they might advertise themselves this way and there might be difficulties, after getting the link and the details of the hotel, you can message them or call them to get appropriate information.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
