I’m afraid they’re gonna simply reuse the Balaton stage. It has a 400 sqm led wall, but it does look weirdly small because of its shape imo.

That might be the worst decision Sziget could make.

Imagine this scenario:

“Now let us announce our brand new stage! Recycled from a failed festival in our country, maybe third of our size and where only DJs performed, and what you can’t even see from the Coke party area, so small!”

and they want to sell this as an upgrade? Not happening.

plus it’s not like it’s a stage ready made and they just transport it from a to b. They have to build it. So they can simply build bigger.

I agree : taking the Balaton Stage would be a downgrade to me. Let's hope they won't...

Seconded. After seeing some of the Anyma visuals from his stint at the Sphere, there's no way it would translate onto a screen like that. To do them justice it would need to be twice as high at least.

I just checked. As a comparison. In 2024, Tomorrowland’s main stage had 1600 sqm of screen tiles on the main stage. That’s 4x, and that’s just the leds!

The whole thing? 5760 sqm. More than 10x the size of this stage.

I know it’s Tomorrowland, but still that is a MASSIVE difference. Why on earth would somone watch Anyma on this if they can probably see him in Tomorrowland.

Do we think Ellie Goulding is getting announced ? They’ve posted about her collab with Anyma

I don't think that they're teasing her in that story, in my opinion it's more about Anyma having a new song out.

Agreed. I don't even know where Ellie Goulding would sit at a festival like Sziget anymore. Sub maybe?

Empire of the Sun also did a song with Anyma at the sphere and releasing it soon

I know we have said there name heaps of times now but surly that’s another tick for them might be being there

Can someone remind me please of the other festivals which take place around the time of Sziget so I can keep an eye on their socials. Thanks.

Way out west, oya etc.

I personally think they should change the dates, as mid summer they miss out on quite a bit.

Big festivals like Glastonbury, Roskilde, wetchter early summer. Likes of pukkkelpop, creamfields and reading late summer.

Especially the days sziget are on, could pick up plenty of acts over those weekends.

As thetime wrote, Way out west, Oya festval and:
Flow Festival (Finland)
Summer Well fest (in Romania, so it's close)
Frequency (about a week after Sziget in Austria, only sharing a few names though these years)
Grape Festival (Slovakia during Sziget)

Lowlands (sharing a few names with Sziget)

Is it me or are some acts being pushed up to headline status way too quick/easily nowadays? Would like to see Benson Boone at Sziget but the idea of him being worthy of a headline slot seems ludicrous.

I could say the same about Glass Animals, but they've been around for some time but are riding the coat tails of just one huge song - similar to Benson I guess.

Rilés is being announced. Will he be a main headliner?

No, I think he will play after one of the headliners on the second largest stage (Revolut stage) as he did the last time he was here. That's the most likely.

They’ve just published that he’s playing main stage on August 10th. You’d assume he’ll be the second slot for the day

Never heard of Benson Boone until now. 😂 But looks like I knew "that" song.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
