Apparently Team Burnham aren't happy with Catherine West.

lol

She has zero chance of getting 80 names.

She has 100% chance of making herself look extremely idiotic.

Are you missing that he’s leading the charge to oust Starmer ?

He's a good journalist reporting what MPs and ministers tell him they actually think rather than what they say in public.

The whole they are desperate to get rid of him but have to wait for Burnham thing is ridiculous.

According to Dan Hodges in the mail you won't have to wait long.

He reports that Burnham has identified a winnable seat, he'll make his move next week and Starmer will be given an offer he can't refuse to let Burnham stand.

It might be bollocks, none of us know. That Alex Wickham tweet includes the same info that Burnham is backed by Miliband and Lou Haigh. It reads like a fair summary of the current state of play.

Everyone hates Starmer. They will likely hate his replacement. The next few years are going to be hard, inflation up and no growth and taxes start to kick in.

May as well call an early election, get it over with.

Edit. Morning btw.

Yeah I get the whole left wing union leader firebrand image and all...but this is kind of bollocks.

They have put up taxes on businesses and wealth taxes and brought in workers rights and renters rights and increased the min wage. What they did that upset so many was tried to means test winter fuel payments for pensioners, and they haven't stopped the boats...and most of all Starmer is just a bit of a prick.

What labour has done is abandon it's urban liberal and ethnic minority base who have done one to the Greens.

Bridget Philipson doing interviews this morning, says Starmer not going anywhere, that the government will stick to its brexit red lines of no returning to customs union and single market, and that changing tack on migration would be to take the wrong message from the elections.

Doomed.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
    • I was fully prepared (waterproof jacket, extra pair of socks, foldable umbrella), but after four hours in the rain (from Geese through Oklou to Florence Road), it was just too much. Already at the hotel, let's hope tomorrow's better.
    • It’s rare that I watch question time, but I almost felt sorry for Kenyon, he seemed like a guy just brought off the street which effectively is what he was, made worse by the fact Burnham and the Tory guy were very strong debaters. I think Burnham was very aware not to go too hard on Kenyon and risk him getting sympathy, in fact he pretty much ignored him.
