‘Oooh, look at me, I like Alestorm and Volbeat but also love the Vengaboys, aren’t I so varied’

I’m being purposely obtuse but still. What are we doing here? Resorting to dumb meme bookings.

Also, how have Busted, McFly and now the Vengaboys played Download before Turnstile?

I couldn't imagine being this angry over vengaboys

It's not like they are headlining it's a bit of fun for people who are camping

Yeah I'd agree to be honest, I only made my post in jokes.

I'd get the post if it was the main stage or something but some light hearted village fun. I'd be more questioning they've found a way to book something involving The Darkness twice the same year and a way to get FFAF back so quickly lol, so many options to have an acoustic set. Vengaboys is at least new and fresh. I've seen them twice at 90s festivals and they are fine for no thrills fun but that's enough.

I went to countless rock and indie gigs while at uni but it didn’t mean I didn’t like a good cheese night in Camel Club every so often. Nothing wrong with it at all

Its because many people have just been so fixed on what Downlosd is for so long and asking for change so when it happens becomes an issue when they don't deliver to the tastes. This isn't me btw, if anything I think it actually opens the idea its alright to listen to stuff like that at a primarily rock festival where some of the rock music was also at a time of the cheese.

I was a first timer in 2023, and went along to a dj set at district X after the headliners one evening - they played a lot of emo stuff, very much not my thing, but the crowd went absolutely f**king nuts for the Vengabus. I instantly felt extremely old and out of place 🤣 fun is fun though, bring it on, it’s easy enough to avoid if you don’t fancy it

Maybe it’s a sense of Download losing its identity but it’s decent as a break on an evening, it’ll be a good laugh for those who want to go down. Never seen a crowd get warmed up better than Soft Play coming out to We Like To Party

'Justin Hawkins Rides Again' is his youtube show / podcast is it not? Pretty sure the live version is similar, a talk show / podcast kind of thing, but live, so not really "The Darkness, twice."

Might make an interesting break from the music? 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, it’s a live podcast. They have them every year. It’ll be on in the daytime or early evening on Weds or Thurs, I should think.

Can all of the DJs just communicate somewhat this year? Because there is no way on God’s green Earth that we should be hearing Misery Business, Chop Suey, Killing In The Name, Psychosocial, Last Resort, Bring Me To Life etc. etc. etc. three to four times per night. We shouldn’t be hearing those songs at all (who really wants to hear those songs? Whose night is that really improving?), let alone in back to back DJ sets a mere hour apart.

Yeah I have no issue with it.

I'm happy to hear all those songs once each night myself, they are all songs I/people enjoy from bands mostly enjoyed so why wouldn't we?

Because they’re so unbelievably overplayed. All of those artists have so many other well knowns songs that could get played. We don’t need ‘my first rock club’ songs being played all the time.

But I’ll give you one per night. I heard Killing In The Name 5 times in the same night at Download 2023. There’s no excuse for that.

They should I admit choose different songs from the artists so I'll say that is correct.

The same when you go to like 90s/dance festival too. How many djs need to cover freed from desire, set you free or whatever and in many instance the actual act that do that song are there to play it anyway.

I don't genuinely think though that similarly to Slam Dunk, you might just be going past the times for your Download moments but that's a festival thing, not a you thing. When I think you live Bloodstock and see that as the 'thing' to be at....I don't think Download is going to be that all of sudden again.

This is a complaint I can get along with, once a night fair enough, but the same songs over and over is a buzzkill. Same with In Too Deep by Sum 41, hear that all the time

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
