I think she needs something new and good to spark some interest. I also have seen live videos and some of it decent some of it doesn't sound great.

Neil announced it in a miscommunication post but it hardly a post of striking excitement and the first ever one I've known to exclude a day confirmed. They definitely did not plan on that. Yeah it wasn't a striking lineup and the other stage was overall poor. It's not going to change because bands want money, they don't make anywhere near the albums of music sales they did. I didn't actually rate 2022 that high, I had a few acts that were great options but same with 23 was more great options for me rather than proper stick guys.

I don't think she is locked in.

she is doing festivals in March. Youll know what to expect by then. Whats the big f**king deal. She will have played a dozen fests before she even hit Glasto. Not good enough? Just watch something else.

For me, the longer they leave it, the less faith they have in the lineup they've booked. As much as some people were happy about Neil being announced, the announcement felt like it barely even made the news - And that almost seemed by design, considering we didn't even get a proper announcement from the festival. We got an Instagram post from Emily, and an article on the website. No post from the festival on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. It's almost like they don't want people to know Neil is headlining... I can't even see anywhere that Neil has announced himself (aside from his weird rant)

They did the same for the 2024 festival, which was undoubtedly one of the weakest lineups in modern history.

Compare this with the fanfare they gave the likes of Elton, McCartney, Radiohead, Foo Fighters... Even Little Simz headlining West Holts was paraded more than Neil Young.

I hope I'm wrong, but I do truly worry that the organisers may not have much faith in what they've got booked.

i mean yeah, thats always the concern. And it would stem from last year too. If its much more quiet than normal than something might be up. So lets day Neil Young got announced in a regular fashion without all of the fuss then nobody is thinking theres issues. But they hit a speed bump so it makes everyone concerned. And they have every right to be.  I wonder how it would affect coming back from the fallow if this year is similar to last year. And the price will go up. Obviously the only thing that can make a difference would be Oasis. But it almost feels like too little too late. Theyre taking a fallow at essentially the worst time.

The Neil Young "announcement" was clearly rushed out cos he announced it himself on his blog.  It was entirely quick and reactive and not by design.

Nevertheless it still made the news all over the shop.

I think headliner deals are probably in the pipeline or concluded, whoever they are - though inclined to believe chat and info we've had on who it is.

I think the delay will be ironing out who goes where on the rest of the bill. They have obviously moved a few around over the years to read trends - doesn't always work, but it'll be something they want to keep in mind. If that means that another act can no longer, or does not want, to play the festival, then you'd rather not go large with them out of the gate, I guess.

To Glastonbury?  I wouldn't have thought so.

Acts like that plan out their moves years in advance.  It's not as if she's have come out of leftfield.

Depends what the touring plans actually are. She did the Coachella 2017 headline slot with very little notice (Beyonce dropped out less than 2 months before the festival began) and Gaga wasn't touring at the time (she was filming ASIB). Its not the most ridiculous thing to suggest she could be drafted in. Especially if she will already have a festival set prepared and delivered in April and rumours to have touring plans sometime (although I'm thinking more likely for end of 2025/summer 2026 as we are already in Feb! 😄)

Yeah. Surely only enters the conversation if neither Rodrigo nor The 1975 are locked down, and would imagine there are others easier to wrangle as replacements.

Yep. If O-Rod gets fumbled expect ye not Gaga, but brace ye instead for the The Tyneside Johnny Unitas Haircut Boss.

Says I

Olivia's tour dates has her locked-in. And she will absolutely smash it!

Hadn’t really checked her dates - she’s doing Hyde Park 27 & 28 and Manchester 30 & 1. Does leave a gap on the Sun night but means 5 nights in a row. It seems a lot - though possible.  A number of people on here have been saying it’s happening for a while, so it probably is, but 5 nights in a row is a bit of a question mark for me I think.

Zach Bryan is doing BST HP on the 28th and 29th, with the 27th being Olivia's only night there.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
