That trio of headliners makes me feel slightly better for missing out on tickets.

ill take anything to console myself right now.

its literally optics. Everyone just wants their trio to appeal to them so they can take pride in that lineup. I cringed having Ed Sheeran headlining in 2017, but what can ya do. Radiohead and Foos made up for it. So what did it matter. Thats the trade off.

I wouldn't call a trio of The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 bold, per se, but I would possibly call it forward-facing. It features a pair of British artists who cut their live teeth with an ascent through festivals, and possibly safeguards them as future picks, while it adds one of the biggest young American stars of the moment, complete with more obvious crossover appeal.

Now watch all this chat be absolutely nonsense.

Would be bold if they gave The 1975 too headline spots tbf. Much as I'm aware you did the clarification post saying you meant Sam Fender.

I think it would have a degree of boldness to pick 3 more recent acts rather than having at least one legacy act that's either done it before or spent a decade playing stadiums.

But yeah, like ya say, one thing to see how it looks on paper, another for it to actually happen and to see how it flies with the public. But even then, what is Glastonbury's depth if not being famed for a festival that will have about 20+ stages and different things for those who look at a 1975/O-Rod/Fender trio and go "Pass". It's like how I honestly wasn't arsed for a lot of what was on the Pyramid this year but still had a smattering of acts elsewhere that meant if I had gone, I'd have still had a good time.

Aye, you don't survive fifty years on the strength of your headliners alone. It helps, but Glastonbury is long past that as the be-all and end-all.

Correct

It really isn’t all about the headliners, which is just as well if the efest researchers are on the ball.

Missed it with all of the ticket sale excitement/panic but just seen Liam Gallagher posted “massive announcement incoming”. Assume we can probably Ignore for Glastonbury (just an extra date or something) but thought I’d throw it in here anyway …

Yeah he’s a bit busy next summer thankfully. Probably just another support act for their tour.

Nah. I feel like saying that to him most days and hold off out of politeness. Today I'm giving myself a time out.

Tensions are high, and he does have a habit of constantly reminding people how easy he has it, rubbing their nose in it. But come on man, come on... You can't throw personal insults around.

Maybe a fair assessment, but all I did on this occasion was express an opinion on the currently expected headliners and let’s be honest, quality aside, there’s no real musical diversity there

Yep, and personal insults are against forum rules.

Your opinion on this is as valid as anybody else's, no need to explain.

(Please try and think of other's feelings on ticket day in certain other threads though, as that will get people's backs up.)

Is tame impala a possibility? Heard the rumour a while ago, what with LP5 imminent, would fit

Wouldn't be shocked. Timing could be right and Kevin was doing the rounds at the festival last year.

Not to headline though. Dunno where they'd fit tbh

Don't see it, personally. They'd have to come back with a record that absolutely knocks your socks off, minimum.

Interesting, in my head they're 100% pyramid headliner, feel too big now for any other stage. Anyway fingers crossed I get to see them at Glasto on any stage, probably my #1 wish on my glasto wishlist
