Acts are doing heaps of O2 dates a lot more and these are generally the kind of acts that BST go after.

Certainly I thought The Killers might do this given they did BST in 2017 and previously did Hyde Park when it was Hard Rock Calling in 2009 & 2011 but they've gone for 6 nights at the O2 instead, of which there are still tickets available to at least 2 of them.

Interesting - I thought that with Taylor Swift doing lots of dates there plus Springsteen & Green Day that they might be close to quota. Unless it's a more generous allowance than I thought.

From memory, they're allowed a huge number. Can't remember exactly but it ends up being more than 20 concerts in addition to their sports fixtures. So the main obstacle to hitting the limit will be that there's probably not enough suitable dates in the summer.

I'm not sure on numbers of shows Wembley can do but the same person did say the two dates were spread apart over the summer.

At the moment they're up to 11, so they've still got wiggle room by the sounds of it.

Surprised at that many, only two years after those stadium gigs to boot. (And they were sold out before the pandemic, no less.)

And doing Reading & Leeds (and Edinburgh and Belfast) last summer, but also that these shows, plus the ones in Manchester, Glasgow & Dublin, are all when there's an unchanged song pool.

Though if I'm fair I actually thought they'd be declaring a sell-out for all the O2 dates by now, given that's about the capacity of a Wembley.

Four O2 Arenas equal a Wembley. (I've no idea if that's true! That's just what I've always had in my head.)

I love The Killers, and saw three shows on the run in 2022. But I do wish they'd switch it up a little bit more like their heroes when it comes to live performances. (This is doing them a slight disservice as, outside of festival season, there tends to be one or two songs per night that get a rarer run-out, but... they could do with broadening that pool in itself.)

pre pandemic the limit was always 12 which ones capital fms annual jolly gets added they will be at already  I'm sure I read somewhere it had been increased post pandemic so 20 or so could be about right

AEW wrestling last year formed part of their non sports quota and assume that will be the case this year too. it also takes away a run of potential dates for their load in and out

Yep - Google suggests that the limit is now 24 non-sporting and 22 sporting events. Which I can't see them getting near.

Gotta love how an event with wrestling in the actual name and dressed up in the pageantry of sports doesn't count as sport.

I googled, out of interest. There's a huge debate over whether AWE is pro-wrestling or sports entertainment. The jury's out. I suppose the difference is they are not 'amateur' - i.e. Olympics type sport. And there's shed loads of money in it.

Six shows at Wembley would probably on math be about the same as two at the Arsenal stadium, which is where they went in 2022 on the Imploding the Mirage cycle.

Midnight Show is the obscurity I'd love to see (and had I gone to Cardiff in 2019 as I was contemplating, I'd have got it) but I do agree they do tend to get stuck in a setlist groove. But as it's explicitly for a greatest hits compilation in the form of Rebel Diamonds, it's kinda just bracing for the only real change to be that boy, Spirit and Your Side of Town make appearances rather than a deep cut.

Saying that there's also the nature that they might be off for a bit as Brandon was declaring he has a solo album ready to go in 2025.

Pro-wrestling has that all around, given there's that dissonance on whether the bigger name WWE counts as sport or not. The fact I've gathered they've used actual TV drama writers to map it out doesn't help.

Though totally. If they're selling out Wembley, it's got hype.

I'm more shocked Brandon isn't touring solo this year, given that I reckon a good chunk of his solo band would be the current live line-up of The Killers minus Ronnie (and Dave when he rocks up).

I saw Midnight Show twice - sorry! That was my deep cut on Sheffield and Doncaster.

My big hope is that it's more of its own beast than an extension of Imploding the Mirage. Get some of those lesser-played songs on the Rebel Diamonds album - Be StillQuiet Town - out and into the fray for good.

When I saw they played it in Doncaster a few nights before my night seeing them in Coventry, it made me super hopeful we'd get it, but alas, not to be. We did tbf get a few surprises - Getting By II was cool, River is Wild is fun (even if I'd seen it multiple times before), Be Still was a great surprise - but not the one I was hoping for.

I'm curious tbf for the upcoming Vegas Hot Fuss shows - Change Your Mind is on the US version of Hot Fuss but several other places had Glamorous Indie instead.

I also have spotted that the guy who's been playing bass live for The Killers since Mark Stoermer retired from touring was in Brandon's solo band on both his albums so far, so can imagine there's other cross-over as well.

I'd have loved the Coventry setlist, but hey ho. These things happen!

I think they'll play the US version, but at the same time, I'm not convinced they'll necessarily do it front to back. Spit-balling here if they did:

1 Jenny Was a Friend of Mine
Mr. Brightside
Smile Like You Mean It
Somebody Told Me
5 All These Things That I've Done
Andy, You're a Star
On Top
Change Your Mind
Believe Me Natalie
10 Midnight Show
11 Everything Will Be Alright in the End

12 Human
13 Glamorous Indie Rock and Roll
14 Runaways
15 Read My Mind
16 Caution
17 Under the Gun
18 When You Were Young

When do BST generally announce supports? Is it super late?

Varies massively.

Sometimes it's on the initial announcement, sometimes it's really late in the day. Often somewhere between.

My assumption is that there'll be more urgency if they feel they need a boost in ticket sales (assuming the acts they have are likely to provide that).

    • It can take around 30-45 mins to walk from the arena back to the transport hub with the crowds, depending on density. Allow even longer in poor conditions. I don't think you'd need to leave Linkin Park early though, you have at least an hour and 20 minutes to walk to transportation. I certainly wouldn't leave early in your shoes, knowing I can just walk to the airport if needs be (2 mile walk and another 30 - 45 min walk depending on your walking speed and conditions.) Maybe just don't linger too long for the toilet / food after Linkin Park have finished.  It will definitely make sense and all just fall into place on the night, don't worry too much and have a great time. The very worst that can happen is a little extra walking to the Airport Skylink bus stop, as those Skylink busses are 100% 24 hour. 🙂  GFS, ICON and ECMWF are ALL in agreement on the latest runs.... After a mildly moist Weds and Thurs, high Pressure building from Friday... Lets just hope they continue to agree... ☀️☀️☀️
