Green Day are headlining IOW, which puts them at the level of the Pet Shop Boys and The Prodigy.

I was being nice.

They could do it, but certainly not the superstar level booking that (I think) was being implied, and not a big miss if it never happens.

I'm not judging them on anything other than where they're sitting on the IOW lineup.

Though, for clarity, Pet Shop Boys and The Prodigy are a level above Green Day in that they're not utter f**king bobbins.

Ha! Would disagree with you me aul dapper chum.

Never understood The Green Day praise, even more the thinking that they're some sort of radical, edgy punk thing.

They're a totally dull MOR act.

hehe love the MOR thing... lot of credibility to this shout.

To huge swathe of music fans, they don't have impact of others but their longevity and discog has them right near the top of punk tree. Yep. Better than iggy, ramones, clash, pistols etc.

So The Rolling Stones and Mumford and Sons...?

When suffering a drought, you don't throw away your last food, even if it tastes like sh*t.

Green Day are excellent live and on record. Sold millions of albums, have staying power, have near enough sold out a stadium tour and are credited with changing an entire genre. The hate getting thrown their way is undeserved. If they're not your kind of thing, just say so, don't say they're boring and a crap act. Also, to say one band is the same size as another because they've headlined the festival is outright wrong, and to say it is objectively correct simply because they are in the same place on a piece of artwork is naive.

Dislike towards a band should never be confused with them being bad.

Welcome to eFests, where the booking of Elton John was questioned by large proportions of the forum.

Green Day are a f**king incredible live act. If/when they play at Glasto, you'd have plenty on here talking about how amazing it was after the fact.

I just see people saying the don't like them / find them dull / MOR.

All musical opinions are subjective, nothing to be upset about.

They won't though.  Aren't they just out for the stadium pay days?

They won't headline Glastonbury.

Brilliantly put! Old enough to remember Stevie's **last** booking being questioned by loads on here.

Green Day would be ace.
