I've heard it's part of site cutbacks on Wednesday and Thursday, that's most affecting the smaller sites.

Not the case. This is one of those things where people have made assumptions based on garbled or no information.

You only need to look at the lineup to see that everything that'd normally be operational on Thursday is already confirmed as running this year. The (much smaller) stages that normally operate on Wednesday haven't had their lineups for the day published, but all of the ones I'm aware of will be running as normal.

As has been pointed out - the main change here is the people running the catering provision. Somehow that's been extrapolated into a much bigger story.

One wonders whats happened to overturn a 20 year old relationship though.

While it sounds like there's probably something happened there - given that so far neither side is going into specifics (and possibly never will), it seems pointless trying to unpick it.

Could be as simple as a personality conflict, could be they got outbid on a renewal, could be a stylistic change, or could well be something that'd never occur to us.

It’s concerning to me that the first year they are selling 7,000 more tickets they are also cutting back on stages and places for people to go.

My comment was just about Avalon. Yes, the catering's changed, how much music is going to be on, I'm assuming this is also coming out of helping to make up the losses over the past 2 years that I've read about, rather than future ongoing reductions although I've nothing to quote here.

Does Melvin Benn work for MF or Festival Republic? He's back now, so I'm wondering if he's tightening up things like this across the festival. I don't need things to be static, just not tied down and overtly commercialised.

Yep - and this was announced when the Stage lineup dropped a couple months ago so I don't have any trust in the "we've only just been told" claims.

They are also our new landlord and landlady. They are currently asking for acts to perform ( no ticket allocation so must be already attending).

Good news that a local business gets the gig though I will miss them up at WV. Now there’s surely a wealth of talent on e festivals who would love to take the stage at Glastonbury!

Do you mean asking acts to perform for the Wednesday?

They do already have a reasonably full lineup published for Thursday to Sunday.

Yes hopefully the MF relationship is not behind this. Certainly the way Bearded was set up this year bore some relationship to having gone in with Rock City on the running of the fest.

I know a couple of people locally who seem to have been sidelined/their nose out of joint. Don’t know the ins and out of it but they were cussing Benn/MF

Why would Benn/MF come back anyway? The relationship began back when the super fence went up and he and Eavis parted ways some years ago, which tbh I was pretty ok with. Why the return?

Benn is back already and its Festival Republic he works with.

Runs Electric picnic here in Irealnd and getting more commercial by the year, areas that were free-flow were changed the last time out.

Sam's Sauna is not there this year either, though this appears to be a personal decision based around wanting to retire for a few years now and fear of covid.

Ah that's a shame! Sam's was literally yards from my tent in Undleground. Sauna and a shower was the perfect way to start the day. Great coffee cart too 😞

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
