BB King's 94th birthday - anyone else remember 2011?

Recommended Posts

Yeah, it's one of those gigs that I couldn't properly value until months later. I've been talking about it quiet a lot recently as me and some friends have been getting more into the older blues/jazz music.

Still unbelievable to have seen B.B. King - Radiohead - U2 right after each other. Even for Glasto that's a crazy run.

I have no memory if I was there or not! I definitely intended to go, but can't for the life of me remember if I actually did

He was on his last legs but was still great to hear him play those 3 notes! Such a great guitar sound.

Bittersweet set. He was clearly at the end. He couldn't do it - but I am glad I was there. As said above, great to hear him play what he could.

I'd been the opposite, had enjoyed a lot of old soul and blues tunes so have always enjoyed it when they've been able to lure an old legend down to Somerset :)

I thought he was particularly cranky and didnt much fancy it.

I only saw a bit as I was walking through on my way somewhere else, think I'd seen clips of recent shows and it didn't look great, decided to leave myself with the time I'd previously seen him (supporting U2 in 89) as my lasting memory.

Didn't help that we all new the rain was coming but enjoyed the few bars he played when he did.

He was 85 and fairly sick at the time. Better this than nothing!
