Yeah that'd be ridiculous. No way it'll be this good but even if a quarter of those acts are there it'll be great.

Bon Iver and Sufjan would absolutely destroy.

Scenes on here when Bon Iver isn't announced and we get Ben Howard instead.

How much of an effect do you think APE will have on Glastonbury (viseversa).

Given AEG and Live Nation have had a hold on the market and most acts that played APE last year didn't appear on hardly any lineups from the other major promoters (L&R, Latitude, BST etc.).

Alot of the acts that played APE last year and ones touted to play this year would normally be in the rumor mix for Glastonbury. Do you think goldenvoice will have exclusive deals that stop acts playing Glastonbury? (perhaps tying them into some kinda "APE in the UK and Coachella on the west coast only" deal)

And which festival do you think acts placed with that choice would choose?

Yep there will definitely be an effect on the higher ends of the line up - more likely with international acts than UK based ones. There'll be big money to make a convincing case for sticking with APE. But really it remains to be seen.

KKB > SOPHIE > Charli XCX is my dream.

Death Grips then Robyn would also be very cool.

Seeing Mitski and Sufjan Stevens on the same day would be a dream come true.

what's your beef with floating points and tvotr

If the first announcement is anything like last years, I would like to see Bon Iver announced as the festival act, and David Byrne as the presents show.

Bon Iver w/ Sharon Van Etten, First Aid Kit, The Staves, S. Carey

David Byrne w/ Robyn, Benjamin Clementine, Parquet Courts

That Bon Iver bill seems more like an APE Presents bill. Although I kind of expect that’s what he’ll do as opposed to the festival, what with it being one less week that they’re in Europe and it being more suited to the style of music they do.

Yeah perhaps, in all honesty, I never really understood the huge difference between the festival and presents, they both had the same structure and kind of interchangeable acts.

Presents is a lot smaller - I only went to the festival but it's just the main two stages running at Presents isn't it? Do they have the tent going?

I feel like the festival is more of a dance and electronic thing, and the indie bands there have that element to their sound, while Presents is more rock-centric. Obviously some acts are interchangeable; Future Islands and St. Vincent coulda been at the festival, YYY and Beck coulda been Presents, etc. Could completely go by the wayside in the second year of course.

Bon Iver would probably fit both because the new stuff is all glitchy and that but dates-wise I think Presents works best.

No it's the same set up I think? minus a couple of the really smaller stages (don't think Despacio was on or that DJ stage).

I only went to the national day

Yeah had a look, they didn't run Despacio or the X Stage and then the festival also has the West Arena which is a fairly big tent at the back of the site that had acts like Justice and Flying Lotus on it. If I remember what I heard right they just fenced off that area completely.

Yeah I’m thinking Bon Iver will be one of the presents gigs too. There’s not much else on around the festival weekend so I’m expecting a presents gig and Best Kept Secret to be the start of their tour. I agree with dental that they make slightly more sense as a presents gig too.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
