People think they'd still play but have you heard their new stuff? Not Download material.

Your the one who isn't Download material, they have been on the forefront to headline for the last 5 years nearly, they have a massive cult following, and they would set a mark in history as being the first Metalcore band to headline the world's biggest rock festival.

But yeah otherwise they aren't Download material, it's not like they've played it 4 times over 2 stages or anything :clapping::haha:

Avenged Sevenfold's first two albums were metalcore

Not a Metalcore band though in 2014 right? That's the same thing as saying BMTH aren't Metalcore and bc of both Amo and TTS they are just a Pop act.

Wasn't expecting that. So Finsbury or something for them?

Would guess so, if their appearance at R+L is indicative of anything.

They did spring to mind as a right-sized candidate for Finsbury but I actually thought Download would go for them as a headliner, at least more than with QOTSA last year. Another hammer blow to any hopes of new headliners here.

So both fests have bolted at booking BMTH who are now going going to attempt to sell their own outdoor show...much like QOTSA probably as they weren't given top spot themselves either....but sell really bad! They are still trying to shift however many of 10.5k for a night at Ally Pally among standing for a fair portion of their tour....where do they envisage another 50k ticket sales coming from in London?

Their new sound is probably the final nail for the fan base they built up and for some reason they thought not making another TTS would be a good plan.

In fairness, you can't blame either fest for not giving them the chance to headline outright.

The new song's hardly a huge departure from TTS.

What's the reception been like to this? Like, do people still care about them at all? It almost seemed so much like TTS that it just kind of got forgotten about instantly, or has it created a lot of hype for the new album?

Well TTS sold a tour off very well....this album tour could have been done on a set of large academies.

    • While i whole heartedly agree with both these statements on a personal preference level -     ive come to reluctantly accept that bland is always popular and il normally just show myself to the other stages where the better times are to be had during the Pyramid headliner slots.
    • Sun's out today. Can feel the hills calling. Time to ramp up the energy levels. I've been easing my way in gently the last 2 weeks with the likes of Hayley and Lael Neale and Cut Worms and Maria Somerville etc. Time to unleash some Shame, Mogwai, Place to Bury Strangers and especially Wednesday and Mannequin Pussy.  Also, just back from a brilliant night in Belfast at the Fleadh Ceoil so anything with a fiddle or a whistle or a squeeze box is drawing me like the Sirens. Madra Salach with the volume up. COME ON!!
    • My Orange car park ticket turned up today. The envelope looked like some kind of junk mail offering me a loan so I nearly didn't open it!
