I'm a Foster carer.

I've known my partner since we were 7-8 years old, we got together when we were 18-19. 
For years we tried to start a family but we couldn't get pregnant. So went the docs and found out we had problems.
We went down the I.V.F route, but failed on 2 occasions.

We became foster parents to 4 beautiful children in 2010, 2 boys & 2 girls, all siblings (the youngest boy and girl are twins). While this was happening, we had & had one last go at I.V.F & unbelievably it was successful. In 2011, my wife gave birth and we now have another set of twins. (boy and a girl)

From being together for 13 years with just the 2 of us, there are now 8 in our household. It's a madhouse but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have the greatest admiration for some of the jobs people are doing on here, there's no way I could cope with people's health or lives in my hands, I'd just never manage to get to sleep for worrying about it! Good on yer.

I write software and manage an interesting project for a music software company three days a week (well, four days for the last goodness knows how long, it's very busy!). Love the team and the project, I'm very lucky. The other days I'm pursuing various musical activities that will one day have never come to anything that I could possibly retire on!

I'm a Quantity Surveyor working on a project to redevelop and refurbish the army barracks on the Salisbury Plain.

My gaffer lives in Pilton and sorts me out a village parking pass each year, it's a godsend.

The challenges of conceiving & doing what so many people take for granted, does funny things to your emotions doesn't it.  (that & turning into a big softy as I get older, in my case!).

Have to admit it's good to see how many people enjoy their jobs 

To those that don't, there's always time to change, with the predicted retirement age at around 150 you're never too old to swap and life is too short to spend that much of your life doing something you hate.

I'm a web developer for a company that makes self-service software for councils. I used to work various admin jobs for different engineering companies, and I hated it. So I did a Computer Science degree through the Open Uni and now I have a job that I enjoy!

I'm a Graphic Designer working for an architectural practice. It's great, I basically draw pictures and colour in all day. In a company of about 40, there are 4 of us going to Glastonbury this year (another 2 went last year). I used these skills to design the fake poster that went viral.

Like StevieBongo, I also came at this late after drudging through dull office work in my 20s. Anyone thinking of a career change, do it and don't look back. It's easier than you imagine.

It's really taxing on the brain cells. I have to be multi tasking 90% of the day, but it's the most fun job I've ever had. Van drivers might be a terror on the roads but they are for the most part a great group of guys, we have such a laugh!
