Arrived on site two hours ago to deliver old lorry. Tranny and lorry drove straight on, no hassle or searches or ID required. No asking to inspect tickets either....we'd left them at home.

 Asked a friend if he'd drive it for me, he instantly said YES. Fair play as it is 60 years old and my test drive was only 6 miles. Anyway, we made it. Rather relieved.

I really hope I dont get searched......I dont carry anything illegal but I pack about as packed as can be, literally to the point of usually needing 2 people to get my bag shut (the joys of having limited space due to travelling by public transport)....if I have to drag all of that shit out of it im going to go mental as theres no way in hell im ever getting it back in to be able to easily get my bag over to the campsite etc.

Yeah going mental will normally result in a even more thorough search. Pass me the gloves...

Just like airport security remember this is a visual deterent to show the council everything they ask is reasonably in place to ensure the festival helps police control illegal activities. Whether that is preventing drug crimes or weapons being brought in. Suggest you pack in a way that is convenient to repack in the unlikely event your bags do get picked out for a search.

Help them to help you.

I don't think it was directed specifically at crew in that way- more that there could be longer queues than normal (as some recycling crew arrrive after gates open) and to factor that in so you arrive for your training etc. in time

Top tip: buy a box of the largest size supermarket clear plastic food bags & pack all your clothes & stuff in them inside your bag. That way it's relatively easy to all pull out & have some chance of getting back in again. 

If they're just doing a visual check, you might not even need to empty the plastic bags, but obviously that's up to luck...

Rolling up clothes tightly, stuffing them in bags & knotting the bags helps make best use of space anyway - and keeps everything dry, if it rains. Which it won't... 

Oh, and totally agree with Jumbo. Statistically you're v unlikely to get searched, but if you are stay calm, stay polite & do what they tell you. Always quicker & more pleasant that way - the stewards are just doing their job.

That is basically my fear each time I approach.  It was a nightmare cramming it all in, the idea of having to badly stuff it back together and stumble through the campsites is not pleasant.

I have only ever been 'searched' about 4/5 times going in or out the fest in the past. Most people get a quick bag check and thats that. I have seen security in the past cutting shrink wrap off of trolleys to search them which worries me as I will be shrink wrapping my trolley this year. Not worried though, I have an immense amount of the stuff available to me through work and will bring spare, its always handy to have around.

And if you do get a search remember about same sex guards and they can only ask you to remove something that is not a jacket, coat or an outer garment if they take you out of public view. I am aware that they have these places at the site but I highly doubt that with an influx of 100000 people waltzing through the gate they will seriously think about going that far unless they truly suspect you. Read between the lines and you will see what I mean and no doubt figure out where to put things you don't want security finding.
