if there's nothing else half decent on i'll be watching for sure, off my nut, lighter in the sky getting ready to set fire to the rain

huge booking for the festival - worldwide festival exclusive (probably for a while i'd imagine). just hope it all goes well for her

I'm with FF here (although  I almost certainly won't go). Easily the best booking of the three. She obviously merits it - even if you're not a fan.

There are unique collaborations happening on site - particularly at West Holts.

Last year from memory there was the Gaslamp Killer / Heliocentrics thing, the Mothership Returns, Hot Chip and Caribou, the FKA Twigs modern dance thing and (maybe, albeit I'm a bit sketchy on this) Flying Lotus.

Your mileage may vary on how 'extraordinary' that all is though.

Flying Lotus had Thundercat and George Clinton for quite a few songs each.

If you compare the top tiers of this year's UK festival line ups then Adele sticks out like a sore thumb in amidst the prevalence of Coldplay, Muse, RHCP, Stone Roses, Biffy, Foals, The Who, Stereophonics, etc.

Would I want a festival composed entirely of Adele-style acts? Not on your nelly. But I do like the variety of having, like, Orchestra Baobab, ZZ Top, Kano, Misty in Roots, Savages and Adele all on the same bill.

V's Justin Bieber booking is also an unusual gambit, but when the undercard is nothing but things Little Mix and Rita Ora than it becomes way less palatable.

Exactly.

Good that they got her in now too. In 24 months time she'll be on her 20th European headline slot and everyone will be truly sick of her...

But then - given her professed reticence to do these kind of things - if Glastonbury remains the single exception, then what's already a pretty good booking starts to look better and better.

An awful lot of people saying she isn't their cup of tea and they'll be elsewhere, and yet also celebrating what a great booking it is for the festival and for Adele.

Makes a refreshing change from the attitudes to Kanye last year.

Yeah. Although you'd have thought that, provided she does a decent performance, she'll be more willing to take those big paycheques moving forward.

Whilst open-mindedness is to be cherished and appreciated, it also doesnt say much for the booking when so few are interested in going along.

*edit* amongst the denizens of this forum at least... if she's up against New Order theres 100k in that field for Adele.

Whilst it's already been said, FKA twigs last year (although not headlining) was rather extraordinary. After watching it back on YouTube recently I've come to realise just how fortunate both me and the rest of the crowd were to witness such a spectacle.

The FKA Twigs set was a cracker, wasn't it? I'm probably due a re-watch as well.

Last year in general was just chocka to bursting with excellent bookings.

It was one of my must sees that weekend, but I missed it and have literally no idea where I was instead.

It was really special, the whole production and time that must have gone into choreographing the entire thing is incredible. In my inebriated and merry state I managed to say hello to her at the signing tent straight afterwards - no shame in saying I told her the show was beautiful as I held her hand with watery eyes.

    • I got super early bird too....i was that chuffed i ticked a couple of the charity contribution boxes
    • I would be very surprised as well if they are are European Festivals and Werchter isn't one of them. They have done Roskilde before but with big gaps   They have done NOS once and they have done Mad Cool once while playing 3 times at Werchter during the period Mad Cool has ran.
    • Whole thing seems a bit sus to me.
    • wtf. Those Moroccons in Cueta can't just go into EU anyway, they would need to go through further checks before Schengen.
