Let England Shake will be my new commuting soundtrack, just wonderful!

I've been wondering about that, too. It would be really tough to choose between those two. Fingers crossed!

If you're feeling like you want to tear your heart out with sadness give White Chalk a listen too

shame she's a fox hunting c**t, but I'll still be watching her.

The comments to that article are amusing though. The last paragraph this had me squirming!

"Good grief! Is she still about? I thought she'd given up years ago!

I guess the message never got through to her that we don't need another Kate Bush awhirling and atwirling around like a drugged up dervish!

It's difficult to believe that anyone's still interested in this dreadful old cultural bed-blocker and her rather questionable contribution to our musical life. What can't she move over and let someone else have a go?

Her 'songs' surely only appeal only to those who have been unable to escape the narrow confines of their adolescence and still dance around their handbags/pints of cider at 'indie' nights in pubs in depressed Northern industrial towns.

I remember her from the 1990's. She couldn't sing and then and can't now. What she's been doing for the last twenty years - one can only speculate. Whatever it was, it wasn't particularly life enhancing I reckon!

I suppose she needs the money which is why she's popped her head up again. I'm surprised her kids can't support her, that's if she has any. You know what these career women are like - they want it all and leave it too late and then expect the taxpayer to stump up for IVF.

How anyone can compare her favourably to true artistes like Adele is beyond me.

If you disagree ask yourself why her vainglorious displays of masturbatory self-congratulation have been ignored by legitimate music lovers?

Why is her entire metier dismissed if not totally ignored by the respected critics?

I suspect the only people interested in appalling old waxworks like PJ Harvey etc are those sad old middle aged men that live at home with their mother and think The Radioheads are the best thing ever!"

It says a lot about my view of the general public and music tht that thought never entered my head until "the radioheads" and even then I wasn't sure. On reflection, you're probably right but I reckon there' loads that think that.

I just assumed a real adele fan would write in txt spk and have nothing like the vocabulary of that commentator!

I'm unconvinced about this new record. Community of hope is great, but on first listen, a few of the others are a bit 6th form poetry. Dunno, need to give it a few more goes. I trust her, though, sure it will reveal itself.

so, I was out this afternoon, and spotted it, to my enormous surprise, on vinyl, so I've picked it up to give it a proper listen

Presumably to use the download code and listen in full 15%-of-source-material-mp3-wonderment, whilst never playing the vinyl - in keeping with Auntie's survey...?

WTF?

Really? What a bunch of pseudo-hipster twots.

I bet the Peej wax sounds great though, Mardy. My Let England Shake pressing is superb.

I like it a lot. Lyrics are quite cringe-worthy, which takes away from the album. But musically it's pretty great. Five first songs are amazing, sadly it does lose some steam in the second half, I don't like 'Medicinals' or 'Near the Memorials' too much, and some songs ('The Wheel') are a bit overlong. But it's really a solid album otherwise. Primavera show is going to be great.
